Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Lagomarsino.
Hi Dana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Beauty and wellness have been woven throughout my life for as long as I can remember. I was raised as a dancer and eventually pursued it professionally. For the past 15 years, I’ve worked with a dance movement therapist, and I continue to dance with her to this day. Naturally, I first learned about hair and makeup backstage, and then became the “go-to gal” that everyone trusted to get ready for a big show or a school dance. Along with my love of horses and animals, both passions taught me to channel my emotions, hold space, and balance energy in any environment. During college and afterward, prior to Just Lago, I worked in beautiful salons and was active in the fitness industry. I also helped open and manage an integrative medical center that featured osteopathic doctors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and yoga therapists. After meeting my husband at a sound bowl healing in 2012, we fell in love and traveled to over 10 countries (and counting!) together, earning certifications in yoga, Thai massage, and Reiki. Now, at Just Lago, I incorporate all of my experiences and standards to hire exceptional artists who not only bring incredible talent but also the most chill, loving vibes to every wedding morning. Wellness is at the heart of everything we do, and that’s why our motto is: “Don’t be a bridezilla, be a chillzilla.” That foundation eventually inspired me to create Just Lago: a bridal beauty and wellness team built on artistry, calm, and joy.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh, absolutely, not, but c’est la vie. Graduating in 2008 without a support system, I had to claw my way up for years, hustling with three to four jobs at a time. Now, I’ve built a wildly successful business and help other women with their businesses. As amazing as it is to grow every year and explore endless possibilities, after eight years in business, it definitely still comes with its challenges. I’ve learned that I can’t be everywhere at once, which means trusting others, setting clear boundaries, and refining systems like contracts to keep everything running smoothly. Each step of growth teaches me to let go, empower my team, and focus on the big picture. The beauty industry also presents its own challenges, including managing expectations and educating clients, particularly with the rise of AI. But honestly? The wins make it all worth it. The freedom, the joyful moments, and the ability to build something on my own terms is something I wouldn’t trade for a few bumps along the way.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Just Lago specializes in natural glam, helping brides and clients feel like their elevated selves. We believe our partners should fall in love with us for who we are. So, although we offer hair and makeup services, our true goal is to inspire our clients and brides to radiate joy, love, and light from the inside out. Beyond beauty, we offer massages and yoga for bachelorette wellness weekends, to connect with your partner before the big day, or to enjoy a calming session the morning of your wedding – guaranteed serene vibes. When you embody our “chillzilla” vibes, it will naturally calm others around you, making it perfect for your wedding day. With our team of elite artists and therapists, we bring both skill and calm, as well as loving energy, to cultivate extraordinary bridal beauty and wellness experiences that are stress-free and unforgettable.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I believe the bridal industry will continue to shift toward personalized, wellness-focused experiences. Brides want more than flawless hair and makeup; they want to feel centered, confident, and radiant from the inside out. While technology and AI will help streamline processes, the human touch in our artistry, intuition, and calm presence will remain the true differentiator.
