Today we’d like to introduce you to Ellen Pridgen.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my real estate journey while I was pregnant with my first baby, which feels fitting now that I’m a mom of four. Before real estate, I worked in television in Washington, D.C., where I was immersed in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and learned how to stay calm, focused, and adaptable no matter what was happening around me. That experience shaped how I work to this day.
Getting my real estate license during such a transitional season taught me early on how to balance ambition with flexibility and trust my ability to grow alongside my life, not in spite of it. Over the years, as my family grew, so did my business — and my appreciation for what an honor this work really is.
I genuinely love what I do. Helping people find where they’ll live, raise their families, build memories, and feel safe is one of the biggest decisions most people will ever make — second only to choosing a life partner. Being trusted with something that meaningful is not something I ever take for granted. Every client, every home, and every story matters to me, and that sense of responsibility is what continues to drive me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been an incredibly valuable one. Building a career while growing a family means constantly adapting, and I’ve learned there’s no such thing as a “perfect” season. There were moments of exhaustion, self-doubt, and learning how to show up for my clients through pregnancies, postpartum phases, and the demands of motherhood — all while working in a high-stakes industry.
Real estate has also taught me how to stay grounded through change. Over nearly ten years, I’ve experienced extreme market shifts — from the frenzy of the pandemic market to much slower, more cautious seasons. Living through those highs and lows forced me to adapt quickly, stay educated, and evolve my approach instead of relying on what worked in the past.
That perspective has been invaluable. Having seen so many cycles, I’m now able to better prepare my clients for how to act in different markets — when to move decisively, when to slow down, and how to stay focused on their long-term goals instead of getting caught up in fear or hype. Those ups and downs have made me a calmer, more strategic advisor, and that’s something I’m truly grateful for.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Real estate has always been part of my life. Both of my parents are in the industry, and working alongside my mom over the years has been one of the most influential parts of my career. Long before I was licensed, I was holding open houses for her and absorbing the business from the ground up — learning how much trust, preparation, and care this work truly requires. That early exposure gave me a deep respect for the responsibility that comes with guiding people through such an important decision.
Today, my business is built on that foundation. I work with buyers and sellers who value clear strategy, honest communication, and strong advocacy. I specialize in helping families and individuals navigate major life transitions, and I’m known for staying calm, prepared, and solutions-focused, even in complex or emotional situations. Having experienced many market cycles, I tailor my approach to the moment rather than relying on one-size-fits-all strategies.
San Diego — especially North County and Rancho Santa Fe — isn’t just where I work, it’s home. I grew up in Rancho Santa Fe, and my parents have lived in the same house since I was two years old. I truly believe there’s no better place to grow up, and that lifelong connection gives me a deep understanding of the community, neighborhoods, and lifestyle that clients are really buying into. I don’t just know the market — I know the feeling of living here.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that my business has grown organically through relationships and referrals. That tells me people felt supported, informed, and genuinely cared for throughout the process. I want readers to know that my brand is rooted in trust, long-term relationships, and thoughtful guidance. When clients work with me, they’re getting more than a real estate agent — they’re getting someone who takes this responsibility personally and is deeply invested in helping them find the right place to call home.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as alignment. It’s building a career that challenges me and allows me to grow, while still being present for the people and life that matter most to me. Success isn’t just about numbers or milestones — it’s about sustainability, fulfillment, and showing up with integrity in everything I do.
Professionally, success means serving my clients well, earning their trust, and knowing I guided them through one of the biggest decisions of their lives with care and honesty. Personally, it means creating a life where my family feels supported, my work feels meaningful, and I’m proud of how I spend my time and energy.
