Hi Emily, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
About 15 years ago, I was doing the rat race 9-5 / weekend warrior lifestyle thing while working in New York City finance when my body decided it was done moving so fast. Symptoms of exhaustion and overwork started to dredge my life but I kept pushing. Finally, it was all too much to keep up with and I came down with a physical injury so bad that it required surgery to repair. While in recovery from surgery, I found my way to an acupuncturist. It was there that she asked me about my whole body and how it related to my symptoms. She took an hour to gather minute details on my life and put together a diagnosis. I had never felt so cared for or so listened to. And there began my journey to become an acupuncturist and provide treatment that was dedicated and designed to really hear what story the body is trying to say.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The “business” part of running your own business is the hardest thing to learn when you’re passionate about bringing a service to the people. There is much more that goes on behind the scenes that the public does not see- including all of the technicalities that involve CPAs, Lawyers, Employees, Supply Chain Management, Banks, Loans etc… The advice I give to new entrepreneurs is to find and hire a great business coach that can walk you through what may seem like a mountain of hurdles. Great guidance can take you a long way.
