Inspiring Conversations with Erin Magers of Magers Money Management

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Magers.

Hi Erin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I previously worked for a company for over ten years where I was in various management roles that ultimately lead me to the finance department. I found my niche in finance. I enjoyed the storytelling that numbers gave to a businesses success. I spent many years working long hours with high stress to excel at my job, then my family grew. When I became a mother, my priorities changed and my time became more valuable than it had ever been. After my first child, I continued to work full time with a hybrid schedule in office and at home. It was challenging but manageable. Then I became pregnant with our second baby and I knew trying to find a balance between my professional success and being present with my children was not going to be an easy feat. I still had the drive and desire to be in the professional world, but in order to be the mother I wanted to be, I could no longer sustain the demands it was taking to thrive in my current job. Trying to keep up was draining my happiness and I knew it was time to rewrite my own version of success.

I knew finance was my future. I had the passion and necessary skills to propel me forward in the industry. I began taking accounting and bookkeeping courses while I was on maternity leave with my second baby. I initially returned to work and continued school while staying home with my newborn baby and two years old. I made a business plan and began setting the footprints to start my own virtual bookkeeping business.

After a few months of the most chaotic juggling act of my life, my husband and I decided it was the right time for me to launch my business and take the leap forward to fully dedicating myself to building my business.

Magers Money Management was born. I now run a fully virtual bookkeeping business and have been able to create a work-life balance as a stay-at-home-working-mom and business owner!

And the best part is, providing bookkeeping and administrative services to other business owners allows me to help my clients find a little extra time for a working-life balance for them too.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I decided to take on becoming a new business owner at the same time as becoming a new mom of 2. I ran on no sleep and depended on a constant flow of coffee to survive the launch of my new roles in life.

I risked a steady, stable job in order to create the career and lifestyle I desired. But big rewards come from big risks and failing was not an option.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a virtual bookkeeper and administrative professional offering a wide range of services from basic bookkeeping to payroll, sales tax filing, AR/AP Management and administrative assistance of any kind in between.

My goal is to assist business owners with the back office support they need to allow them freedom to refocus their energy on their businesses overall success. By removing the task of day to day financial operations, my clients are able to prioritize long-term goals and the overall financial health of their business.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Contributing to someone else’s happiness. Whether it be my family or my clients, knowing that somehow I’ve added to their lives in a positive way fuels my heart and soul.
