Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Haynsworth.
Hannah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started working at San Diego Hardware in high school, filling orders in the warehouse. After a few years of that, I began working on the sales floor where I fell in love with decorative hardware. I then got my BS in Interior Design, continuing to work summers at the showroom. Once I graduated, I got a job doing cabinetry design, but my heart kept pulling me back to San Diego Hardware, where I felt I had more to offer and my voice would be heard. I soon transitioned into a management position, wearing a number of hats at the company. Currently, my key roles are website management, marketing, and curating our product selection. My favorite has to be the latter. Sourcing new hardware is always exciting. We have so many stunning pieces from around the world – many are like works of art.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Personally, I like a bit of a bumpy road and I’d dare to say I actively seek them out. I think growth is often born from taking risks, being in uncomfortable positions, and having a constant drive that good isn’t good enough. Even taking on a new manufacturer can be risky, and it doesn’t always go well. In business, there will always be curve balls thrown your way, whether it be a new competitor, a changing economy, or a global pandemic. While a shifting landscape can be incredibly stressful, at San Diego Hardware we use those adversities to find opportunities for lasting improvement and growth. I believe that is a key reason why we have stayed in business for so many years.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
San Diego Hardware has been owned and operated by the same family for over 130 years, and I am proud to be a part of that family! Throughout the decades, the owners have always instilled a company culture of unity and integrity. I believe that mindset is truly felt by our customers, as we consider them all as part of our San Diego Hardware family. After all, this city and its residents are an ingrained part of who we are today. Our hardware is in both old and new homes in this city and its different neighborhoods. We are truly a part of San Diego history.
Today, we proudly offer one of the widest selections of decorative hardware in the country. We source cabinet and door hardware from Japan, Australia, Italy, the UK, and more. We are picky about the brands we offer and only partner with companies whose quality we can stand behind. We have one of the largest showrooms in Southern California, where customers can touch and feel hundreds of options before making a purchase. We also have the largest in-house inventory so customers in a time crunch can go home with something they love same day.
Any big plans?
We have a few new product lines in the pipeline that we are excited to release. We are also continually working on expanding our online selection at www.sandiegohardware.com so customers can shop from the comfort of their home.
