Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Sheldon
Heather, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I used to be a chameleon. I could walk into any room, any situation, and adapt—reading the energy, knowing exactly what was expected, blending in seamlessly. I thought that was a skill, something to be proud of. But I didn’t realize then that my ability to fit everywhere meant I didn’t truly belong anywhere. I had no real sense of self. No boundaries. Just a constant, unconscious effort to keep the peace, be what others needed, and override the quiet knowing that something was off.
For years, I pushed through. I worked hard. I did the “right” things. I held it together. And my body paid the price. Panic attacks. Debilitating anxiety. Chronic stress showed up in ways I didn’t understand—muscle spasms, mysterious pain, the exhaustion that sleep couldn’t fix. I went to therapy (which helped), saw acupuncturists (who told me my body was holding onto my emotions), and heard all the advice to “love myself” (which I thought I did—because I didn’t hate myself, right?). But none of it quite landed. I understood the words, but I wasn’t connecting to them.
It wasn’t until I hit a true breaking point—so deep in depression and anxiety that I was desperate for relief—that I tried clinical ketamine therapy. And it cracked something open. It wasn’t a magic solution, but for the first time, I felt things I had only ever thought about. That, combined with the Reiki I had been practicing since 2018, sent me down a path of deeper healing, one that wasn’t about managing my emotions but actually processing them, moving them through my body instead of just intellectualizing them.
Then, in 2022, another tragedy hit. The weight of grief, stress, and years of perfectionism came crashing down. My panic attacks intensified. My nervous system was fried. I had spent my whole life running, adapting, performing wellness—but I had never actually stopped to be well.
So in 2023, I walked away from my job. I didn’t have a perfect plan. I just knew that I couldn’t keep living the way I had been. I needed to know if what I had learned—what had saved me—could help others too. I enrolled in an 8-month trauma-informed somatic coaching program, started experimenting with these practices in my own community, and quickly saw the impact. What started with close friends and family grew into supporting over 500 people in 2024 alone.
That’s how The Whole Human was born—not as a business, but as a mission. A space for people who are great at keeping it together but are secretly exhausted, stuck, or disconnected. Through my signature mindfulness-based nervous system reset program, NapNirvana, special somatic workshops like |Uncaged|—an exploration of sacred rage—and 1:1 somatic coaching, I help women in their 20s to 60s break free from the cycle of exhaustion, stress, and people-pleasing. Together, we move from running on empty to feeling grounded and energized again, from being stuck in survival mode to truly feeling at home in themselves—whole, empowered, and aligned with their deepest needs and desires. When we learn to feel deeply, we step into a more expansive, impactful, and fulfilled life where we can truly show up for ourselves and the world around us.
San Diego has been the perfect backdrop for this work—because, like me, this city holds both ambition and ease, movement and stillness. And I believe healing doesn’t mean stepping away from life; it means learning how to meet it differently. When we reclaim ourselves, we change everything—our relationships, work, and communities. And that’s the kind of change I’m here for as I work towards my goal of supporting 1M people.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it’s not always a smooth road—but I don’t think it’s meant to be. Every challenge, every unexpected turn, has shaped me and deepened my work. Running a business is its own kind of initiation—one that asks me to trust myself, stretch my limits, and stay connected to why I started in the first place.
Right now, I’m in the thick of it—learning, growing, and building. Entrepreneurship isn’t just about having a vision; it’s about doing the work to bring it to life. That means navigating the logistics—bookkeeping, marketing, designing and delivering transformational programs—while holding space for my clients and my own evolution. Some days, it feels like a lot. But even on the hard days, I know this work is bigger than me. Seeing people reconnect with themselves, break free from burnout, and step into their full aliveness keeps me going.
The challenges aren’t roadblocks; they’re invitations. Every moment of doubt, every logistical headache, every lesson in patience is shaping something real, something lasting. The Whole Human is growing, and so am I. I am here for the messy, beautiful, ever-evolving process, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Whole Human?
The Whole Human isn’t just a business—it’s a movement. It’s about reclaiming wholeness in a world that constantly pulls us toward burnout, disconnection, and self-doubt. I specialize in somatic coaching, nervous system support, and embodied transformation, helping people move beyond survival mode and into a fulfilling and aligned life.
As a trauma-informed, Level II Reiki practitioner and somatic coach, I integrate mindfulness, breathwork, and nervous system regulation into all my offerings. Healing isn’t just about talking through challenges—it’s about experiencing the shift in your body, energy, and how you move through life.
Through my signature program, NapNirvana, I guide people out of exhaustion and back into deep restoration. My workshops, like |Uncaged|: An Exploration of Sacred Rage, create space for emotions we’ve been taught to suppress, offering powerful tools for self-expression and personal freedom. My 1:1 somatic coaching helps people unlearn the patterns keeping them stuck so they can step into more ease, alignment, and impact.
I also partner with local wellness studios to bring somatic breathwork and workshops to the San Diego community, making this work more accessible to those seeking deeper connection and nervous system support.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the way this work is resonating. In 2024 alone, I had the privilege of supporting over 500 people through my offerings. What fuels me is seeing people realize they don’t have to keep living in survival mode—that a life of deep presence, vitality, and self-trust is possible.
If there’s one thing I want your readers to know, You don’t have to keep pushing through. You don’t have to keep living on autopilot. The life you want—the one where you feel fully alive, fully expressed, fully you—is possible. And you don’t have to do it alone.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success is both a feeling and a vision. It’s about alignment—living, working, and creating in a way that feels deeply fulfilling. But it’s also about impact. My goal is to serve 1 million people, helping them move from survival mode into a life of presence, embodiment, and real freedom.
Success is when someone tells me, “I finally feel like myself again.” It’s knowing that my work is creating ripples—helping people regulate their nervous systems, process emotions, and reclaim their wholeness so they can show up fully in their lives, relationships, and communities.
And let’s be real—financial success matters, too. Being of service and building a thriving, abundant business are not mutually exclusive. I believe that the more I expand, the more I can give, and I refuse to subscribe to the idea that doing meaningful work requires self-sacrifice. Success, to me, includes growing The Whole Human into a movement, creating financial sustainability, and reinvesting in my mission so this work can reach even more people.
At the end of the day, success is about impact, alignment, and expansion—both personally and collectively. Because when we feel deeply, we live more expansively. And that’s what I’m here to create.
