Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamaica Rich
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hey there!
I’m Jamaica Rich—a proud San Diego native, wife, and mom to two beautiful boys. As a birth worker and Mom Life Navigator (coach), I’m passionate about helping moms rediscover themselves and thrive in every season of motherhood.
You might remember me as the founder of Bump N Beyond Doula, which I started after the birth of my first son. That transformative experience not only reshaped my life but also gave me a deep appreciation for the strength, vulnerability, and beauty of motherhood.
During my first pregnancy and postpartum, I struggled to find balance and reconnect with who I was beyond being “Mom.” It was a challenging yet powerful journey of self-discovery—one that inspired me to help other moms navigate their own transitions with compassion and support.
Two years later, becoming a mom of two brought new lessons and challenges. Preparing for my second baby reinforced how essential it is to build a strong support system and prioritize self-care. It reminded me that as moms, we need space to nurture ourselves while embracing the many roles we take on.
These personal experiences revealed a bigger truth: motherhood doesn’t stop after pregnancy or the baby stage—it’s a continuous journey of growth. That realization inspired me to create Beyond Birth Wellness.
At Beyond Birth Wellness, my mission is to empower moms to reclaim their identities, invest in themselves, and find balance amidst the beautiful chaos of motherhood. Through workshops, coaching, and safe, supportive spaces, I help moms feel seen, heard, and equipped to thrive—not just survive.
Motherhood is a journey, and I’m honored to walk alongside moms who are ready to rediscover themselves and embrace all the joy, strength, and possibility life has to offer.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been one filled with growth and resilience. When I was pregnant with my second son, my pregnancy was incredibly challenging. I was still supporting families as a doula, pouring into the moms I worked with, but I knew deep down that I was in a transitional stage in my life. I wanted to pour more into my kids and myself, even though I wasn’t quite sure what that was going to look like.
As my pregnancy progressed, the physical support I was giving to families had to stop. Then, my son was born under very scary and traumatic circumstances, and he ended up in the NICU. Professionally, my life took a pause. During that time, I focused completely on caring for my sons and nurturing my own well-being.
I was fortunate to have support around me, but what truly surprised me was the strength and encouragement I found virtually. My mom friends and best friends, even though they didn’t live nearby, constantly checked in on me. They sent messages, words of encouragement, and even meals. This virtual support system was so impactful during one of the most isolating times in my life.
Fast forward a few months later, I started to rebuild my business. At first, I wasn’t sure what it would look like, but I knew I wanted to build a stronger virtual presence. The moments when I felt most alone in the NICU were when my online community showed up the strongest for me. This inspired me to create a space for moms to connect virtually.
Initially, I thought I would focus on supporting second-time parents. But as I reflected on my own experience and the amazing connections I made virtually with birth workers and other moms, I realized my heart was with supporting mothers directly. I wanted to focus on helping moms put themselves first again—because for too long, we’ve been taught that being a good mom means being selfless to the point of burnout.
That’s how Beyond Birth Wellness was born. While I’m proud of how far I’ve come, the transition hasn’t been without its challenges. Going from an in-person role to building an online presence has been tough. Many people knew me as Jamaica in person, but online, I’m starting from scratch. It’s been a learning curve to grow my presence and connect with moms in this space.
That said, the conversations I’ve been having with moms have been incredible. Each connection reaffirms why I do what I do. It’s been a journey, but one I’m so grateful to be on.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Beyond Birth Wellness is all about empowering moms to reconnect with themselves and rediscover who they are beyond motherhood. This isn’t just for moms in the early postpartum phase—it’s for moms in all seasons of life. Whether you’re navigating life with a newborn, managing toddlers, or parenting young adults, this space is for you.
I specialize in supporting mothers as they reclaim their identities, manage the mental load, and create balance in their lives. What sets Beyond Birth Wellness apart is the acknowledgment that while motherhood changes us, it doesn’t have to define or limit who we are.
Through virtual workshops, coaching programs, and a growing online community, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with moms from all walks of life—new moms, moms of school-aged kids, and even moms whose children are now young adults. Each journey is unique, but the need for support, understanding, and connection is universal.
I’m most proud of the community we’re building. Whether it’s through workshops or one-on-one coaching, I create a space where moms can feel seen, heard, and supported as they prioritize their well-being without guilt.
Beyond Birth Wellness isn’t just about motherhood—it’s about you. Your growth, your healing, and your joy. No matter what phase of motherhood you’re in, my goal is to remind you that it’s never too late to reconnect with yourself and put your needs first.
Any big plans?
While I still love supporting families here in San Diego when I can, my heart and energy are fully focused on building an online community where moms from all walks of life can come together. Beyond Birth Wellness is growing into so much more than I ever imagined, and I’m excited to see where it goes!
Right now, my main focus is on hosting free workshops, offering group coaching, and personalized one-on-one coaching for moms who are ready to prioritize themselves again. I’m creating a space that reminds moms it’s okay to pour into themselves and rediscover who they are beyond motherhood.
But honestly, this is just the beginning! In the next couple of years, I dream of hosting retreats where moms can come together, relax, and recharge. I’ve also been thinking about launching a podcast to share real stories and conversations about motherhood and self-discovery. I want Beyond Birth Wellness to be a hub—a place where moms feel supported, inspired, and connected no matter where they are in their journey.
I’m putting all of this into existence and claiming it because I have so much love, excitement, and support to give to moms. It’s my passion, my purpose, and I’m so grateful to be on this journey.
