Today we’d like to introduce you to Josie Kramer
Hi Josie , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The idea for Vikara Center came from a blend of my personal and professional background and a powerful vision shared with my partner, Brian. As a PhD student in Psychology and a Transpersonal Guide, Somatic Practitioner, Yoga and Meditation Teacher, Health Coach, and Bodyworker, I’m passionate about supporting others on their healing journeys. During COVID, Brian and I met in Mexico, and through a transformative medicine experience, he envisioned creating a retreat center together.
We were fortunate to have contacts in the Cleveland National Forest area, where a friend owns a KOA campground along with adjacent land. This gave us the perfect opportunity to bring our vision to life. We embarked on the journey of building Vikara Center—a yoga and wellness retreat center—and after only 90 days, we opened our doors. Now, nine months in, we’ve been able to inspire and support groups from all walks of life. It’s been an incredible journey of growth, both for us and the community we serve.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My path here has been anything but easy. Overcoming personal trauma has been a major part of my journey. I’ve learned that healing isn’t linear, and the most profound growth often comes from the darkest times.
As you know, we’re big fans of Vikara Center . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m proud to be the co-founder of Vikara Center, a retreat space that blends yoga, somatic healing, and holistic wellness. What sets us apart is our deep commitment to creating a safe, supportive environment where people can embark on transformative journeys of healing and self-discovery.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something surprising that most people might not know about Vikara Center is that it’s home to a variety of friendly animals, including ostriches, llamas, goats, donkeys, horses, pigs, owls, and more! Our animal friends add a unique and lively energy to the retreat experience.
