Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Wichmann Zacharias.
Hi Katherine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I completely fell into this business by mistake. I was an intern at SDSU for John Hancock because I found out at the last minute I needed an internship before I could graduate. The job market was horrible back then and I certainly didnt want to move back home with my Tiger Mom so when they offered me a FT job I said yes, Thats not what I had planned on but its now been 33 amazing years, I love helping people, and I am so grateful for the work that i do.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Its been a long road, as an entrepreneur its not easy. When I first started 33 yrs ago I was a broke college kid still in school. I Have wanted to quit may times but I am fearless and I pushed thru. It was difficult in the beginning to find prospects but now thankfully my co is mostly referral based, I do still network though because I love it and have come to be known as kat the Connector. But yes theres always struggles as a business owner.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I have over 30 yrs experience in the field of insurance and financial services. I help ppl, mostly female entrepreneurs empower themselves with their money. I host free events called Wine Women and Wealth and Money 101 ea mo. I specialize in Living Benefits and Tax Free Retirement planning. I am a Certified Living Benefits Advisor.
I am actually known as the Connector, my nickname is actually Kat the K/Connector! Lol! I am a Master Connector and have connected people all over with others for referrals, collaboration as well as business. I absolutely love it! I have actually wone many awards for business matchmaking!
I assist people, with life and health insurance as well as Medicare Supplement Insurance, Disability insurance and Long term care. Building a plan for people to ensure that they don’t outlive their money and Avoid medical bankruptcy is my goal. It’s my passion to help others. Women esp are so afraid these days of ending up as bag ladies, so I help prevent that!
I am most proud that I have helped so many people over the last 32 yrs avoid medical bankruptcy and give them peace of mind so they can sleep well at night!
I am almost extremely proud and honored that I accepted an Honorary Doctorate last yr for my work in Human Rights and ending trafficking since 2009. And that I have been selected the last two yrs by the UN to be a Delegate at the UN Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. Those are my personal passion.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Love and trust, those are two of my most important characteristics. I have always been told that I exude Love, I care about others and my clients and its important to me that they trust me in this line of work and I want them to feel one hundred percent comfortable and confident.
