Inspiring Conversations with Kevin Torre of The Learning Design Hub.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Torre

Hi Kevin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I served 23 years with the United States Army and retired as a Sergeant Major, but the true motivation behind my journey with The Learning Design Hub stems from my personal experience as a father. Both of my sons, Douglas, now 19 and starting college, and Randy, currently in the 4th grade, were diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Through them, I have learned firsthand the challenges that families face when navigating the educational system, especially when traditional learning environments don’t fully meet their needs.

I know personally how hard learning was for me, and seeing my sons struggle motivated me to pursue a Master’s degree in Learning Design and Technology. My goal is to empower other families by providing tools and resources that help their children succeed academically, particularly in areas like time management, study skills, and critical thinking. The Learning Design Hub was created to bridge the gap between what schools offer and what students with diverse learning needs truly require, making education more accessible and supportive for all. My hope is that through this platform, other families can find the guidance and solutions I sought for my own children.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has certainly not been a smooth road, as one of the biggest challenges has been starting a self-employed business while balancing the demands of raising children, working, and attending graduate school. This juggling act remains challenging, requiring constant adjustments. Personal obstacles also come into play, particularly in managing time and staying organized. For my family and me to be efficient and productive, strong time management is critical—and it’s precisely what we aim to provide to other families through The Learning Design Hub.

Unexpected hurdles always arise, especially in design and content creation. When you master one tool, a new one emerges, creating a never-ending learning cycle. My goal is to stay adaptable and ensure these tools are tailored to each child’s specific needs. Additionally, narrowing down topics has been crucial; although I want to offer every possible service, it’s not feasible. Instead, I focus on a few key areas, perfecting them to provide the best possible support for my clients.

Though I haven’t felt overwhelmed, I often wish there were more hours in the day. Regardless, you make time and become a multitasking expert. This experience has strengthened my resilience and commitment to helping others navigate similar challenges.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

I do not have one. I enjoy creating childhood memories with my children.
