Hi Leticia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey began in 2013 when I started as a marketing representative for a water damage restoration company. Over seven years in that industry, I witnessed firsthand the lack of accessible, affordable, and trustworthy environmental testing services in my community — and I knew I could fill that gap. In October 2020, I took the leap and founded Air Assure Inc.
Starting a business in the middle of a pandemic was no small feat, but with the unwavering support of my husband and a trusted industry mentor, I had the confidence to move forward. Five years later, I can honestly say that despite the inevitable ups and downs of entrepreneurship, I wouldn’t change a thing. Every day I get to do meaningful work — helping homeowners and contractors protect their health and safety — while still being present for the moments that matter most, like dropping off and picking up my kids from school.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not, and I never expected it to be. Customer service and marketing came naturally to me after seven years in the field, but the back-end operations of running a business were a different story. From accounting to administrative systems, there were areas where I struggled and, honestly, still do from time to time.
I’ve made mistakes along the way, but I’ve chosen to treat each one as a lesson rather than a setback. Today, I’m fortunate to work alongside a talented accountant and CPA who support me in the areas where I need it most. That said, I believe full ownership of your business means staying engaged in every aspect of it — so I show up, I ask questions, and I’m always ready to learn something new.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Air Assure Inc. is an environmental testing company specializing in asbestos, lead, and mold testing. We work directly with homeowners and contractors to test building materials following water or fire damage, or prior to any remodel or renovation project. Our work ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations but more importantly, it protects the health and safety of homeowners, workers, children, pets, and the broader community.
Many people don’t realize that disturbing building materials without prior testing can release hazardous particles into the air, posing serious health risks, particularly for children, the elderly, and those who are immunocompromised. That’s where we come in.
What sets us apart is simple: we are a woman-owned, family-operated, local company that genuinely cares. We keep our pricing reasonable while never cutting corners on the federal standards required when handling hazardous materials. We’re not here to just run tests and hand over a report. We’re here to educate, protect, and serve our community.
But what I’m most proud of? Our integrity. At Air Assure Inc., we are in the business of helping people first. That value is at the core of everything we do, and it’s what I hope every client feels from the moment they call us.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Empathy. It’s the quality that made me successful as a marketing representative, and it’s the foundation on which I built Air Assure Inc. When someone calls us, they’re often dealing with a stressful situation. Unexpected damage to their home, a renovation gone sideways, or concerns about their family’s health. Being able to genuinely understand and connect with what they’re going through changes everything about how I show up for them.
I don’t just work for my clients, I work with them. That distinction matters deeply to me, and I believe it’s what keeps people coming back and referring others to us.
