Inspiring Conversations with Luis Oropeza Diego Gil of Gordibueno760 miche mix n dip

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luis Oropeza Diego Gil

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Gordibueno760’s roots trace back to two passions coming together at the perfect moment. While Diego was perfecting his micheladas, I (Luis) was experimenting with rim dips. About four years ago, I started making them with chamoy, but I wasn’t entirely happy with the way they turned out—the chamoy would drip down the cup or can, and I wanted something cleaner and more enjoyable. Our rim dips our 100% tamarind base infused with real fruit flavors.

One day, I shared this idea with my wife, and now business partner (Diego), and together we brainstormed a way to improve it. What started as a small personal project soon blossomed into something more—my rim dips and Diego’s michelada mix started gaining attention. We realized that we were onto something special.

Diego’s side of the story is rooted in a similar spirit of creativity and family. In 2020, during the challenging days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gordibueno760 was born out of necessity. Diego started making micheladas as a way to stay connected with loved ones while the world was isolating. This small hobby quickly grew into a business, serving high-quality, small-batch michelada products to over 10 locations around North County.

What drove him to start Gordibueno760 was the need to support his family during difficult times, especially when childcare was scarce. The business became his solution, not only to provide for his family but also to nurture a passion he could share with others. And as we collaborated on our projects, it became clear that our combined vision was something unique.

Now, Gordibueno760 is a true family business. Our products, whether it’s my specially crafted rim dips or Diego’s refreshing michelada mix, are all about bringing people together. The love and support we’ve received from our local community have been overwhelming. We’ve had the privilege of sharing our creations with many new friends, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

We’re excited about the future. Gordibueno760’s journey has only just begun, and we look forward to continuing to grow, bring joy to our community, and spread the love for local businesses. Cheers to many more years of innovation, collaboration, and, of course, delicious drinks and snacks!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to where we are now hasn’t exactly been smooth, but every bump along the way has been a learning experience. When we first started out, there were plenty of obstacles. For one, balancing the business with our personal lives was a challenge—especially with Diego juggling family commitments and me handling the behind-the-scenes work. We didn’t have a roadmap for how to scale or even market our products at first, so it was a lot of trial and error.

We also faced some growing pains when it came to sourcing ingredients, packaging, and managing demand. As word spread, we quickly realized we had to step up our production without sacrificing quality, which required learning a lot about the logistics and efficiency side of things.

But, the biggest challenge was staying focused during the times when it felt like things weren’t moving fast enough. The uncertainty, especially early on during the pandemic, made it hard to know what was next. But our passion kept us going. The support we received from our local community, loyal customers, and friends kept us motivated through those tough moments.

Now, looking back, we’re grateful for those challenges because they helped shape us into the business we are today. Every struggle has made us stronger, more adaptable, and more connected to our customers. And we’re still learning and growing, but the journey has been worth every step.
