Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Kostedt.
Hi Michele, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a registered nurse for over 25 years, and for most of that time, I practiced fully within the conventional medical model. I raised my son the same way — following every vaccination, every doctor’s visit, every round of antibiotics, even multiple ear surgeries — because I truly believed that was the best way to care for him.
But over time, I started noticing patterns that didn’t sit right with me. During the last eight years of my nursing career, I spent much of my time reviewing patient charts and saw the same story repeated over and over — a new medication for a new symptom, while the root cause was never addressed. It became clear to me that our healthcare system is designed to manage disease, not create wellness.
That realization set me on a new path. I began exploring holistic approaches, starting small with essential oils and gradually diving deeper into functional medicine, especially around the time of COVID. I started seeking ways to truly support the body — through nutrition, sleep, stress regulation, hydration, movement, sunlight, and community — and it completely changed how I viewed health and healing.
Today, through Holistic Wellness and Coaching, I bring together my nursing background and a holistic, functional approach to help others do the same. I don’t diagnose or treat, but I educate, guide, and coach my clients toward lifestyle changes that help their bodies function the way they were designed to — naturally and optimally. It’s incredibly fulfilling to walk alongside them as they begin to understand what their body is communicating and learn how to support it with confidence and hope.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been an incredibly meaningful one. There’s been so much to learn — not only in the world of holistic and functional medicine, but also in running a business. Transitioning from the structure of hospital work to entrepreneurship has been a huge shift. There’s no manual, and it takes time, consistency, and faith to build something from the ground up, especially when much of my growth has come through word-of-mouth referrals.
One of my biggest struggles has been unlearning much of what I was taught in traditional nursing. After spending decades in a system focused on symptom management, it takes intentional effort to reframe how I view health — to trust that the body has an incredible ability to heal when given the right support. It can also be discouraging to see patients being told to take another medication to treat a symptom instead of exploring the root cause.
There’s so much missing in our current healthcare model — especially around prevention and metabolic health. For example, if doctors routinely measured insulin levels early on, rather than waiting until A1c levels rise, we could intervene much sooner and truly change lives. The challenge now is helping clients embrace a more holistic, proactive approach while they’re still navigating a system that’s often quick to medicate and slow to educate about lifestyle, nutrition, and true prevention.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Holistic Wellness and Coaching, LLC?
I specialize in a functional, whole-person approach to health. The body works as one interconnected system, and I believe it does us a disservice to compartmentalize it into separate symptoms. Every system in the body influences the others — and that includes emotional and spiritual health, which play a massive role in physical well-being.
My work focuses on helping clients restore balance from the ground up. I take a foundational approach that prioritizes nutrients, grounding, and healthy lifestyle habits that support the body’s natural ability to heal. In addition to offering functional medicine tests and comprehensive labs, I also offer Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) treatments, which help the body heal at a cellular level by reducing inflammation and supporting tissue repair.
My clients range from children to older adults, both male and female. No matter your age or current health status, there is always room to optimize your health — sometimes you just need the right guidance and direction. That’s where I come in. I’m here to educate, support, and walk alongside you as you learn how to support your body in the way it was designed to function.
It’s important to understand that true healing is not a “quick fix.” It takes time, intention, and consistency — but the results are lasting because they’re rooted in balance, not temporary solutions.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t really believe in luck. My business and my journey have always been faith-based. When I first felt called to step away from my full-time nursing job, I was hesitant. Even though I didn’t feel aligned with that role anymore, it was stable, familiar, and paid the bills. The idea of stepping into entrepreneurship felt both exciting and terrifying.
But I knew God was calling me to something different — to serve in a way that aligned with my values and helped others in a deeper, more holistic way. So, I took that step of faith and trusted that God would provide, and He has.
This journey has taught me that provision doesn’t always come easily or instantly, but it always comes in the right time. I’ve been blessed with opportunities and unexpected clients. To me, that’s not luck — that’s grace, purpose, and faith in action.
