Today we’d like to introduce you to Mina Mendoza.
Hi Mina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am 20 years old and was born and raised in San Diego, CA. I grew up in Imperial Beach, and graduated from Chula Vista High School. Throughout high school, there was always so much pressure to follow the crowd and go to college. I had no idea what career I wanted to pursue in the future. I didn’t even know if I wanted to go to college. After graduating, I took a risk and tried something new. I attended cosmetology school and learned a lot about beauty! I am now a Certified Makeup Artist, but I decided not to pursue my career as a hair stylist. It wasn’t for me, but that is okay because it led me to find my true passion!
In 2020, I was attending beauty school virtually in the midst of the pandemic. This was when I was inspired to start my business selling strip eyelashes! I have always loved the idea of creating a business of my own and selling products that I truly believe in. My biggest motivation behind selling false lashes is to encourage others feel confident. After realizing how good I felt when wearing them, I knew my lashes could make an impact.
I began by designing my logo and marketing my brand on Instagram. Icy Lash Cosmetics would provide gorgeous, high quality strip lashes in the most luxurious, blinged-out cases. As soon as I posted a picture of my first product, I began to make sales. I would accept orders through Direct Message and deliver lashes to customers in the South San Diego Area. The amazing feedback and support from my customers has always motivated me to keep going!
A few weeks after starting my business, I decided to create my own website and start selling lashes online. Once I launched my website, orders increased! Creating Icylashcosmetics.com allowed me to service customers worldwide. I have found that my success inspires those around me, and I am grateful to have a platform in which I can express myself and encourage others to do the same.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some days business is slower than others, but I stay busy by creating content and connecting with like-minded individuals. I work on expanding my business every single day, and I am always thinking of new ideas. I have always been extremely supported throughout my journey by my family and friends. I am so appreciative of them because they are always there for me.

Icy Lash Cosmetics LLC offers premium strip lashes and cosmetics. Our catalog consists of many lash styles ranging from natural to dramatic in order to fit everyone’s preferences. All lashes are reusable infinite times with proper care.
Our mission is to empower women through beauty. We believe that confidence is the key to being our best selves.
I am proud of every single business accomplishment because every moment is another step towards success. I enjoy every moment that I get to encourage and inspire others.
What are your plans for the future?
My goal is to be a full-time entrepreneur. I am currently attending several pop-up events around San Diego in efforts to expand my business. In the future, lash vending machines and storefronts will be open to shop from.
Aside from Icy Lash Cosmetics, I love to help other small businesses bring their visions to life by designing affordable logos, business cards, Shopify websites, & much more! I accept orders through Direct Message on my Instagram account @MinasLuxDesigns.
I am also in the process of launching a luxury fashion boutique named Icy Fash (@IcyFash on Instagram.)
I have big goals in life and a strong passion to grow as a woman entrepreneur. A few years ago, I would have never expected to grow this much as a person. My past-self would have been too shy and concerned about what other people would think. I hope to inspire others to go after all of their wildest dreams- and to be confident while doing so.
