Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I always wanted to get into the food industry but wanted to do something fun and different. Originally, Iced Above was a popsicle business. This is when our signature Michelada Paleta was born! As time passed and growth was happening, we realized we needed to add more to our menu thus our full-experience juice bar and snack shop. We offer over-the-top drinks and snacks now along with our original popsicles.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business is never a smooth road. There’s going to be unexpected issues that come about. Whenever something like that does happen remind yourself not to give up. You have to take that struggle full force and learn from it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Iced Above is a full-experience juice bar located underground in Uptown Whittier. We specialize in traditional agua frescas with a fun twist. We also offer spicy snacks and candy, along with our signature popsicles. Our full-experience services will also come to you. We do offer catering where the full speakeasy experience will serve your guest wherever the party may be We are now known for our fun over the top floatie drinks as well as our mega aguas topped with our custom Chile candies. Iced Above is different from others not only because we have an underground speakeasy vibe, but our custom creations are large and exciting. The looks on our guest face when they see their drink come to life is priceless!
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I believe you should take a risk. If you don’t take that risk, you will never know if it was the outcome you expected. Even if you take a risk and you fail, take that as a lesson learned and do things differently next time. However, if you take that risk and it’s everything you expected and more, then it just reminds you that you can do it! Starting a business is a risk, you don’t know if it will be successful, but you should always try. You may hear many nos but you will finally hear 1 yes if you consistent. You can do it!
