From my early twenties until my late thirties, I pursued a career in finance. While I obtained valuable knowledge and interpersonal skills during this time, I found that the work lacked fulfillment. I yearned for a new path but felt compelled to maintain the stability of my finance profession, particularly given my family’s expectations. My father, a Columbia law graduate and the founder of a successful law firm, harbored reservations about my desire to venture into a different field. Embarking on my entrepreneurial journey was no simple feat; it spanned over six years until the opportune moment presented itself. Once the door opened, I seized it with unwavering determination, committing myself to the pursuit of my passion and vowing never to retrace my steps.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve encountered numerous obstacles and challenges while starting my own business, which is likely a common experience among entrepreneurs. The greatest hurdle I’ve faced is self-doubt. When you’re starting from scratch, everything is new, and you’re constantly learning on the job. This trial-and-error approach often leads to setbacks, which can erode your confidence and make you question your abilities. I’ve often felt like giving up and returning to the familiar security of my former career. But then I remind myself why I chose to be my own boss. Yes, it requires more work than my previous job in finance. Yes, the pressure of generating your own income can be immense. And yes, the uncertainty can be a source of added stress. However, the elation of overcoming self-doubt and achieving your goals is indescribable. And once you reach the summit of one mountain, you’re driven to ascend even higher peaks, encountering even more formidable challenges and reaping greater rewards in the process.

I have established a mobile detailing service that operates in both Southern California and Las Vegas. I am fortunate to have acquired people skills in my previous career, which I believe have been instrumental in my rapid success in this industry. These skills have enabled me to acquire a clientele of high-end clients and establish myself as one of the top-ranked auto detailers in my service areas. Currently, my primary focus is on ceramic coatings and maintaining the vehicles of my clients who have opted for this service. My goal has always been to provide a level of service that exceeds the expectations of my clients, and I believe I have achieved this. By prioritizing providing world-class service and leaving my clients speechless with the results of their detailing, I have been consistently rewarded with positive feedback and repeat clientele. When a client takes the time to leave a review praising both the quality of service and the professionalism of the person providing it, it is a testament to my commitment to excellence.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you, and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The COVID-19 pandemic did not have the same adverse impact on my livelihood as it did on others. Perhaps this was due to the financial assistance provided to individuals. Regardless, it was during the pandemic that my business experienced a remarkable surge, propelling it to new heights. One of the valuable lessons I gleaned from this experience is that the everyday conveniences we often overlook, such as grocery shopping, can be rapidly disrupted. Therefore, it is essential to be prepared for such eventualities.
