Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha Sanchez Brooks.
Hi Sasha , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was raised in a small town in Mexico. It’s full of talented artisans and entrepreneurs. My whole family are entrepreneurs and I grew up always wanting to have my own Business just like them.
While visiting friends and family back home I walked into a friend’s store and fell in love with his hats he created. I Thought to myself that I should bring these back to the states and start a pop up boutique and sell the hats and other accessories on the weekends. I asked my daughter if she would help me and she said yes. We came up with the brand name “Nati Natash” as a play on our names.
We started with about a dozen hats and a few artisan bags also from my town. Booked our first event and people loved what we had to offer. Eventually my daughter left for College and I was by myself, so then I had my husband help me with set ups and events. Eventually we started creating our own hats and they would sell out almost every time. Having to do these events is hard so I thought why not wholesale them. I started with a few customers that I met at these same events and they loved it and we were growing together.
My husband and I love what we do and now we offer , wool , vegan suede, palm, straw hats, accessories and everything posible that we can think of to help our customers succeed and have all the tools needed for their business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Most definitely not smooth, working a few other jobs at the time while trying to grow our business. We have had many bumps. We have some of our suppliers steel our contacts and go straight to our customers. Along with the struggle of finding honest, consistent, responsible suppliers. We are currently in the process of buying our own machines to create and make our own hats here in the US. Bringing these machines in to the US has been challenging with the Tariff charges. It hasn’t been easy and we’ve been holding off on bringing the machines over for a few months now. I’m trying hard to figure out a cheaper way to bring them here. It’s been challenging to run a business with only my husband and I doing it all. Marketing has also been a challenge, I’m trying to find time to do it all as a small business owner and find that balance.
We’ve been impressed with Nati Natash, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We specialize on everything hats. Hats of all sorts , rancher, cowboy, cattleman, palm, etc…you name it, we probably have it. We offer many accessories to help our customers get creative and make their own hats, hat bands, feathers, stickers and more. We have hat liners, hats bags to make their product their own.
We don’t brand our hats so our customers can make them their own and take pride in them. This is one thing that our customers love is that we give them the freedom to add their own touch and make it their own.
We are known for our personal relationship with each of our customers. We love helping them get what they need to grow. You can find our reviews on our website @Www.natinatash.com or on FAIRE where we’ve had wonderful responses. http://faire.com/direct/natinatash
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Helping our customers have the best experience. We want them to know we’re here for them and to help them succeed. We love seeing the wonderful feedback and responses.
We continue to work hard to bring the best quality, tools and unique products for the customer.
We believe the more personal and helpful we are the more likely they’ll continue to support us as well. We’re grateful and appreciative to our customers.
