Inspiring Conversations with Sydney White of Cradle & Latch, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney White.

Sydney White

Hi Sydney, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always had a deep passion for supporting mothers and their babies. My journey began as a Mother/Baby Registered Nurse at the University of Virginia Medical Center, where I discovered my love for helping moms and newborns thrive. Through my experience providing in-hospital care, I recognized the vast gap in support that exists for new families after they go home with their new baby. Recognizing the significant anxiety that feeding babies can cause for many families, I pursued further specialization and became a Certified Lactation Counselor through the Academy of Lactation Policy & Practice (ALPP).

My dedication lies in empowering mothers with confidence in feeding their babies, which is why I founded Cradle & Latch, LLC. I am passionate about prenatal and postpartum wellness, and offer in-home and virtual breastfeeding support. As a mom of two young children myself, I intimately understand the need for continual support and encouragement, appreciating the uniqueness of each breastfeeding journey. My personal and professional experiences drive my commitment to make a positive impact on the lives of families.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Being a mom of two little ones and owning a business is no joke. I laughingly refer to myself as a “nap-preneur,”– running my business when my kids are asleep. As a full time mom, it can be difficult to strike the right balance between being present with my kids and developing Cradle and Latch. I never expected to be an entrepreneur, but becoming a mom myself opened my eyes to how much support young families really need. I find myself so grateful that I get to enter into the sacred space of supporting new parents by practically providing breastfeeding support and education. As a young mom myself, I understand the need for a “village” of support. I would not be where I am without the support I have received in my motherhood journey, which is why I am so passionate to be that for other parents.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Cradle & Latch is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for moms and babies, specializing in breastfeeding support. As a postpartum Registered Nurse, I have an extensive understanding of maternal and infant health, allowing me to address a wide range of breastfeeding challenges with an evidence-based approach. As a Certified Lactation Counselor, I offer practical and empathetic support to create personalized care plans that address both immediate concerns and long-term breastfeeding goals. I am committed to equipping families with confidence in caring for and feeding their babies by providing continuous support through every stage of their breastfeeding experience. Currently, I offer include in home and telehealth lactation visits. Additionally I host monthly group workshops in North County to provide breastfeeding education to my local community. I am a TRICARE in-network provider, and love to support the military families in my community.

What were you like growing up?
I’m a San Diego native, and grew up in Carlsbad. As a child, whenever I started something new, I was all in, and still am to this day. I began playing the violin in fourth grade, and still play now, though not as much as I’d like. I found my love of running in middle school, and began competing in high school all the way through college. I am one of those people who genuinely loves to run. From a very young age, I loved taking care of kids, and started helping out in the children’s ministry at my church when I was only eight years old. From then on, I’ve always been around kids, either as a babysitter, a professional, and now as a mom of two little ones.
