Inspiring Conversations with Tawnee Gomez of Girlboss En Route & Urban Shindigs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tawnee Gomez.

Hi Tawnee, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Honestly, my story has been all about following the things that light me up. I first started with Urban Shindigs, my wedding and event planning business, because I’ve always loved creating experiences that people remember forever. There’s just something so special about being behind the scenes, pulling all the little details together, and then watching it unfold into this big, beautiful moment for someone. That’s where I learned how much I enjoy mixing creativity with organization—and how much joy I get out of helping people celebrate life’s milestones.

As I grew, I felt this pull to try something new. I noticed so many entrepreneurs struggling to showcase their brands online and on social media. That’s what sparked Girlboss En Route, my website builder, design and branding studio. It gave me a chance to take my love for design and storytelling and put it into websites and brands that actually reflect the heart behind a business.

Now, I get to do both: plan unforgettable events and help entrepreneurs build an online presence they’re proud of. At the end of the day, it’s all about connection and creativity for me—whether that’s through a wedding day or a website.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but I truly believe every challenge has had purpose. In the beginning, there were a lot of unknowns—learning how to juggle everything, wearing all the hats, and sometimes feeling like I was stepping out on water. But I’ve learned that the struggles aren’t setbacks, they’re part of the story God is writing.

With Urban Shindigs, I learned how to lean on grace in high-pressure moments. With Girlboss En Route, I had to trust God’s timing and provision as I built something new from the ground up. Each season has stretched me, strengthened me, and reminded me that I don’t walk this path alone.

One of my favorite reminders is from James 1:3: “The testing of your faith produces perseverance.” That verse has carried me through so many seasons. Every obstacle has been an opportunity to grow in faith, resilience, and creativity. Looking back, I can see how even the hardest parts were shaping me for the next chapter.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I run two businesses, and while they look very different on the outside, at their core they’re both about glorifying God through creativity and service. With Urban Shindigs, I plan and design weddings and events that reflect the uniqueness of each couple. What sets me apart is that I see every wedding as more than just a party—it’s a covenant moment, and it’s such an honor to help create an atmosphere where love and joy can be celebrated in a beautiful, God-centered way.

With Girlboss En Route, I help women entrepreneurs build brands and websites that align with who they are and the calling God has placed on their hearts. I don’t just design for aesthetics—I design with intention, so that their message can shine and they feel equipped to step boldly into their purpose. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” That’s a verse I keep close, because it reminds me that my work isn’t just about business—it’s about service, stewardship, and helping others walk confidently in their own journeys.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is staying true to that heart posture. I’ve never wanted to just “do the work”—I want to create things with meaning, rooted in love, excellence, and faith. My prayer is always that whoever I serve—whether a bride, a couple, or a fellow entrepreneur—walks away not just with something beautiful, but with an experience that felt intentional, uplifting, and aligned with something bigger than themselves.

How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t just about numbers, accolades, or even how “busy” I am—it’s about alignment. I define success as walking in the purpose God has placed on my life and using my gifts to serve others well. If I can create something that blesses someone—whether that’s an unforgettable wedding day or a brand that helps a woman step confidently into her calling—that feels like success to me.

I also believe true success is about balance and faithfulness. Matthew 25 talks about being faithful with what’s entrusted to us, and that’s how I try to approach my work. It’s not about how much I can achieve, but about whether I’m stewarding my talents, my businesses, and my relationships in a way that honors God.

At the end of the day, I don’t want to just build successful businesses—I want to build a life of impact, integrity, and joy. To me, that’s what real success looks like.
