Inspiring Conversations with Taylor Morrison of Ivry Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Morrison.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started in the event industry in San Diego a few months after graduating college assisting a few different wedding planners. I was really interested in the event planning field, specifically weddings, and I wanted to see what a typical day would look like and to get a feel for working a wedding. I fell in love! I continued to assist, but also found an amazing company where I worked day of events as a venue supervisor, which helped me to network with a lot of amazing vendors and learn a lot about the ins + outs of the event industry. From there I grew with the company and took on the role as operations + events coordinator where I got to do operations for a few venues and plan weddings. Then I got to take on the role as their lead wedding planner. After 5 years, I decided to take the big leap and start my own company, Ivry Events, a wedding planning + design company for the modern couple. It’s been a dream to start my own company, so it’s been a whirlwind getting it all started this year!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish I could say it has been a smooth road, but I decided to start a company while I was leaving my old job, moving to a new home, and during the holidays. That was definitely not the plan, but it was how things fell into place for me, so I pushed through. It has been a lot of late nights, doing so much research, and learning new systems + programs. I was lucky to have been in the industry for over 5 years, so I have so much experience + the best industry friends who have all given a helping hand in one way or another. It truly helps so much to lean on people who have gone through what you’re going through and to have an amazing support system cheering for you!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My company is Ivry Events, a wedding planning + design company. I specialize in planning + designing weddings for the modern couple. I am a lover of a neutral aesthetic so I really wanted to make my brand my own and feel like me. I feel like Ivry encompasses that so much with a clean simple name and with my branding focused on neutral tones with the logo, website, etc.

I offer a two month coordination package, a partial planning package, and a full design planning package. My favorite will always be the full design planning package so I can really get to know my couples and work with them from start to finish to help create their dream day. It’s so special that way.

I am so excited to officially get started and to share my new company with southern california couples!

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have had the best team by my side to support me, push me, and send so much love my way throughout my entire journey.

My two mentors who have taught me pretty much everything I know is Aly Schengel with Luna Wild Design x Moniker Events and Talissa with Events by Talissa. They both took me under their wing and so graciously pushed me + cheered for me every step along the way.

My mom is and will always be my biggest cheerleader and my role model. She is always the proudest and supports me in any way she can.

I am also so grateful for the industry friends I have met over the years. They have given me work, shared tips, and turned into some really great friendships that I cherish.

This industry is filled with so many amazing people who genuinely want to help and cheer for you. I am always overwhelmed by their kindness and help. It’s because of them that I felt comfortable in taking the leap and officially starting my journey to my dream job!
