Inspiring Conversations with Wyatt Parker of Talavera Real Estate – Realtor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wyatt Parker.

Hi Wyatt, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I moved to California in 2020 from the Midwest with two bags and just $2,000 in my pocket (not an exaggeration I sold my beat-up Chrystal 300, a few days before moving, and that was the money I had to live on) . My first six months here, I slept on the floor while trying to get established in one of the most expensive cities in the country — but also one of the best places for opportunity for those willing to endure long enough.

In December of 2022, I got my real estate license and joined my first brokerage. Having played college football, I knew how to grind, but real estate was a different kind of grind. Day after day, I faced rejection — hang-ups, slammed doors, and people telling me “no.”

After nearly a year of this, everything changed with one cold call. I connected with a homeowner who was considering selling. With very little experience, I knew I had to go above and beyond to prove why she should list with me. She gave me a chance, and that first single-family home listing completely changed my career.

From that listing, I hosted open houses that brought new clients, and my business took off. In 2024, my second year in the business, I closed over $19 million in sales volume. Looking back, I realize that without the year of constant rejection and the financial strain of almost running out of money, I wouldn’t have developed the grit it takes to succeed in this industry.

Fast forward to today — I’ve sold over 20 homes and continue to grow my business. I often think about the kid who moved here five years ago with $2,000, no professional skills, and nowhere to sleep but the floor. If he could see me now, he’d be in awe. And that makes me both proud and grateful for the low points I had to endure to get here.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest struggle for me was moving to a new area and starting a career in a relationship-based business without having any relationships. I didn’t know anyone here, so my first year had to be all about talking to as many homeowners as possible — and believe me, most homeowners aren’t exactly thrilled about a realtor calling or knocking on their door.

The second biggest challenge was surviving that first year with no income. If you don’t know homeowners, you’re definitely not going to be selling their homes. I came close to running out of money completely, all while facing rejection day after day for an entire year. But that experience changed me — it forced me to dig deep and shaped me into a more resilient and confident version of myself. And let me tell ya about the fulfillment and how good that first big commission check felt after being so close to hitting $0 in my bank account. It made to feeling of my first big deal feel that much sweeter.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m a real estate agent who specializes in marketing properties at the highest level, ensuring my clients’ homes are showcased in the best possible light. What sets me apart is the attention to detail I bring to every aspect of the process. I tend to obsess over the small things, making sure no stone is left unturned. That comes from my background as a former athlete—my coach always told me, “How you do one thing is how you do everything.”

My brand is unique because I approach this business differently. I personally attend every showing, which is rare in this industry, and I bring a level of confidence to both selling and marketing that buyers can feel. That confidence doesn’t come from ego—it comes from evidence. When you consistently do the work and deliver results, you build a track record of satisfied clients who can speak to the value of your service. That undeniable stack of proof is what allows me to confidently represent my clients and their homes.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
