Jennifer Tandarich of Rancho Santa Fe on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jennifer Tandarich. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Jennifer, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Outside of work, one of the things that have been bringing me joy is my weekly women’s Bible study. It’s been a meaningful way for me to slow down, connect with the community, stay humble, and keep a teachable heart.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a passionate woman who wears my heart on my sleeve and strives to bring a smile to everyone I meet. As an entrepreneur, I embrace the challenge of juggling multiple roles with enthusiasm. My primary focus is running Haircare by Jenn, where I work as a freelance hairstylist at Style Salon in Rancho Santa Fe, CA. Additionally, I own and operate An Enlightened Illumination®, a local business that offers handcrafted candles, numerology readings, and curated candle gift boxes. Currently, I’m designing a new salon out of state while simultaneously building and managing websites. It’s a busy and creative journey filled with variety and growth, and I truly love the excitement each new project brings.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was when I traveled across the United States at just 12 years old to play softball year-round for the Junior Olympics. At times I went without my parents—it was just my coaches, my teammates, and I. Whether we won or lost, I felt a sense of independence, growth, and confidence for the first time. It was an empowering experience of learning, pushing my limits, and simply having fun along the way.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me that without pain, we can’t truly appreciate pleasure. It also showed me that God’s plan is always greater than my own, and I’ve learned to surrender to His will..

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say that the things that matter most to me are truth, integrity, kindness, loyalty, and unconditional love.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I find my greatest peace when I’m outdoors basking in the sunshine or sharing a moment with a loved one on the beach, toes in the sand as the waves crash gently on the shore. I love feeling a cool breeze and gazing up at the stars twinkling in the night sky. Watching children laugh, run, and play together nearby fills me with joy, creating a sense of calm and happiness. It’s a special place where I can truly relax, feel grounded, and reconnect with myself.
