Koichi Macgregor of Los Angeles California on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Koichi Macgregor shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Koichi , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Well lately I been proud I’ve kept on going on my path pursuing my modeling and making it known with my tattoos on my body and going to different tattoo events to show off my art on my body and how far I came with it in the nine years of getting tattooed and doing my modeling

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello My name is Koichi Macgregor, born and raised in the heart of Los Angeles and living day by day to make my dreams and goals with promoting mental health awareness and truly thankful for what life throws at me and willing to never give up on my dreams as a tattoo model and advocate for mental health awareness and learning to be myself along the way of my journey of my life in getting art that resembles who I’m truly am with tattoo art and being someone who kept on going without fail.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Truly I have a lot of people in my daily life I truly want to thank and truly honor them and you know who you are and narrowing it has to be my parents because they’ve sacrificed and made me someone who I am very thankful for and my boy Ricardo Camargo for putting some beautiful well illustrated tattoo art to resemble my daily with tattoo ink and it wouldn’t be anyway possible but I’m thankful truly and being more confident in my own skin with tattoos has really made the person I am today.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell myself when I was younger is to be more patient and understanding along the way because there’s a bump
On the road to life but you gotta take it little by little to get where you are truly now and I couldn’t be more happier with all the support from family and to my friends I honor a cherish you with the fullest.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
I protect my Japanese culture and Native culture to my heart and that’s what on my tattooed body tells a story of what I honor with it and it truly shows it through my tattoo art on my body.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Well I would love to leave a mark in every person I’ve encountered and tell them that life has many possibilities to grow as you take meaning grow with endless lifetimes to take from and remember to always keep going whatever you do and always keep in mind that life has a balance to help see the world with any kind of perspective and moments of life.
