We recently had the chance to connect with Birdies in The Outfield and have shared our conversation below.
Birdies, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Honestly, the thing we’re most proud of is something you can’t measure with likes, followers, or even merch sales — it’s the trust we’ve built with our community. That trust is everything. People know when they connect with Birdies in The Outfield, they’re getting the real us — not a highlight reel, not an act. Just two best friends who happen to love golf, sports, and good vibes.
What nobody sees is how much we value that connection behind the scenes. Every giveaway we do — whether it’s a golf bag, Jordan golf shoes, or even just stickers — isn’t about hype, it’s about reminding people, “Hey, you matter to us.” The same goes for pulling up at local events or chopping it up with folks in person. That accessibility is the heartbeat of Birdies in The Outfield.
At the end of the day, this brand isn’t built on polished acting or trying to be perfect. It’s built on being ourselves, staying present, and showing people that authenticity is more than just a buzzword — it’s the reason our community keeps growing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We’re Birdies in The Outfield — two best friends who grew up on the baseball fields of San Diego and somehow turned our love for sports, community, and a little creativity into a brand that feels bigger than us. What started as just an idea between friends has grown into a space where people feel seen, connected, and inspired.
At our core, we believe in giving back, highlighting others, and being active in our community. That’s what makes the world better, and that’s what drives everything we do. Whether you catch us pulling up at a local event, running a giveaway, or groovin’ to some tunes in a reel on Instagram, what you see is exactly who we are.
Our first year has been all about building trust, camaraderie, and love within the B.i.T.O. community — and that’s just the beginning. We’re on a mission to show that golf, sports, and life hit different when you lead with authenticity and crew love. And honestly? We’re just getting started.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One moment that really changed how we see the world was the day we posted our very first piece of content — June 24th, 2024. Up until then, we never really thought of ourselves as “creative” or even as guys who’d one day run a brand. But the second we hit upload, something shifted. The world suddenly felt a little brighter and a lot more possible.
What we’ve learned since then is that real growth doesn’t come from staying comfortable. Society teaches us to play it safe — sit in traffic, stick to routines, follow the script. But the best things we’ve experienced have come from stepping outside that comfort zone. That’s where you start to notice the beauty in small things and realize you’ve got way more in you than you thought.
Now, we try to live in those small sparks of creativity — whether it’s a reel, a conversation, or even just believing in yourself on a tough day. That’s why Birdies in The Outfield is so focused on inspiring people to put on their own set of “rose-colored glasses.” Because once you see the world that way, the future really does look brighter.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The biggest fear that’s held us back is the one most people get handed as kids — the fear of being different. From a young age, you’re taught to blend in, not rock the boat, fit the mold. Whether it was on the field, in the classroom, or later at work, that pressure to “just fit in” followed us everywhere.
For a long time, we thought being different was something to hide. But when we started Birdies in The Outfield, we realized the exact opposite: the thing we once feared most is actually our biggest strength. Our community exists because we chose to stand out, to do something new, and to bet on our authentic selves.
Now, our mission is to show others that being yourself — fully, unapologetically — is what connects you to the right people. That fear we all carry is really just a barrier keeping us from something special. And if B.i.T.O. has taught us anything, it’s this: different isn’t scary. Different is powerful.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Social media can make it tricky to tell what’s a fad and what’s actually making an impact. And honestly, we don’t stress about chasing the next trend — that’s never been what B.i.T.O. is about. You won’t catch us doing every viral dance or gimmick just to grab attention. We built this brand to grow the game, build camaraderie, and create a space where golfers — male, female, seasoned, or brand new — feel like they belong.
Fads can be fun in the moment, sure, but they rarely spark lasting change. What inspires us are the things that stick: community, connection, and giving back. That’s why we focus on being boots-on-the-ground — whether it’s a giveaway, a local event, or simply making ourselves accessible.
For us, real shifts don’t come from talking about change; they come from showing it. If even one person feels inspired to give back, to try something new, or to embrace golf in a fresh way because of what we’re doing — that’s the kind of ripple effect we’re here for.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When have you had to bet the company?
When we talk about “betting the company,” honestly, the biggest bet we’ve made is doing this for over a year without making a single dollar. From day one — June 24th, 2024 — to right now, we’ve poured everything into Birdies in The Outfield with zero financial return. And we’re okay with that.
Why? Because this brand was never built on chasing quick wins. Our bet isn’t on merch, likes, or even ourselves — it’s on our community. We believe in the power of people to connect, to inspire, and to change the game for the better. Every time someone tells us a video made them smile, or they came to an event and felt at home, or they picked up golf again because of our content… that’s the payoff.
So yeah, we’ve bet it all on the idea that people want something real, something that leaves the world a little better than they found it. And if that’s our legacy, then it’s the best reward we could ever ask for.
