Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Daniel Bourget of North County

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Daniel Bourget. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Daniel, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I would have to say that’s gotta be traveling a bunch the last handful of years.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
A little about me:
I have been working as a professional Audio Engineer for the past 12 years. During that time I have learned a lot and have had many fun experiences inside and outside of the studio. Have made many new awesome friends and have taught many people my craft.
Recently I have finished construction of my new control room at my studio: Ronin Music Studio in North County San Diego. I have also purchased a large format analog console, the SSL Origin 32. This has been my biggest investment into my business to date. I have to say I have been blown away by the performance of this new console, and I am happily living in tone city. I saved up for this for the last 10 years.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
I would have to say the late great Geoff Emerick. He was the engineer for The Beatles and recorded the legendary Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The album that forever changed how music was and is recorded. He had a massive impact on myself, along with many many other engineers, whether they know it or not. I learned more from my short time with him than I did in an entire year of full time schooling.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me to recognize what is truly important to me, versus what the world had convinced me was important. Always follow your dream, and make sure it’s YOUR dream.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Without a doubt, music.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
Through much pain and struggle, what I was born to do. Otherwise you would be interviewing a Doctor or Lawyer..
