Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Dr Zach Beatty

We recently had the chance to connect with Dr Zach Beatty and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr Zach, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Absolutely — and some moments are both. One that sticks with me was a little boy who came in struggling with constipation. After one Gonstead adjustment, he sprinted to the bathroom mid-visit — and the whole room erupted in laughter. It was a funny moment, but also a powerful reminder of how fast and life-changing chiropractic care can be.

And honestly, I feel proud almost every day. We opened just six months before COVID hit, and what could have been the end became the start of something incredible. We pushed through, adapted, and grew — and now, six years later, we have three thriving chiropractic offices in Kearny Mesa, National City, and Oceanside/Vista.

We’ve been voted Best Chiropractor in San Diego on multiple platforms, earned 300+ five-star reviews, and continue to serve patients of all ages — from newborns to seniors — using the highly specific and results-driven Gonstead chiropractic technique.

But it’s not just about growth — it’s about what that growth represents. It represents trust, consistency, and the belief that people deserve natural, honest, and life-changing care. That’s what makes me proud — every single day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dr. Zach Beatty, and I’m the founder of Gonstead Family Chiropractic here in San Diego, where we specialize in helping people heal naturally — without drugs or surgery — using one of the most precise and powerful chiropractic methods in the world: the Gonstead technique.

We’re not your average chiropractic office — and honestly, we never wanted to be. What makes us different is how dialed in we are. Every single adjustment is specific, targeted, and tailored to the person in front of us. We don’t do “cookie-cutter care.” We do results.

We launched our first office in Kearny Mesa just six months before COVID hit. Fast forward to today: we’ve eclipsed six years in practice, opened three locations across San Diego (Kearny Mesa, National City, and Oceanside/Vista), and built a reputation that’s been voted Best Chiropractor in San Diego, backed by over 300 five-star reviews.

But what drives us isn’t awards or numbers. It’s impact. We care for entire families — newborns, athletes, pregnant moms, busy professionals, and seniors — and we do it with purpose, precision, and heart.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Without a doubt — my parents.

I watched them work their asses off so my sister and I could have the opportunities they never had. They didn’t just clock in and out — they showed up every single day, no matter how tired, no matter how busy. They’d work full days, then still come home, make dinner, take us to every practice, every game, every school event.

It wasn’t just about hard work — it was about how to make it all work. They lived a 24/7 grind without complaining. And the crazy part? I can’t remember a single game or school event where at least one of them wasn’t there. They didn’t miss life — they made life happen.

That kind of consistency, sacrifice, and relentless commitment… it shaped everything I do today. It’s why Gonstead Family Chiropractic here in San Diego operates with the same mindset — show up, give everything, and never let the people you care about down.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Give up? No. Quitting has never even crossed my mind. But second-guessing? For sure.

When I launched Gonstead Family Chiropractic in San Diego, I moved here not knowing a single person. No friends, no family, no safety net. Just a dream, a lease, and a whole lot of faith. I remember sitting in that small office wondering how I was going to pay rent, how to get patients in the door, and how to build something from absolutely nothing.

Then COVID hit — just six months after we opened — and the world shut down. For most people, that was a time to pause. For me, it was a moment to double down. I worked harder than ever, put my head down, and pushed with everything I had. It forced me to get scrappy, get creative, and commit on a level most people never see.

Now, we’ve grown into three locations across San Diego, we’ve been voted Best Chiropractor, and we’ve earned 300+ five-star reviews — all by refusing to let anything stop us.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. What you see is what you get.

I’m from the East Coast — we don’t do fluff. I believe in saying things how they are, being upfront, and keeping it honest. No masks, no sugarcoating, and definitely no hidden agendas.

That said, I also love to have fun, joke around, and laugh. Life’s too short to be serious all the time. So whether I’m with patients, my team, or just living life — I bring real energy, real honesty, and a whole lot of personality. What you see online or in person — that’s me, 100%.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Absolutely. I strive to hit goals — and then I move the bar.

I don’t do complacency. Complacency kills. The second I reach one milestone, I’m already focused on the next. It’s not that I’m ungrateful — it’s that I know I’m capable of more. I’m always pushing to grow, evolve, and keep leveling up.

And I surround myself with people who live the same way. We push each other to be better, but we’re also there when one of us hits a rut or bottleneck. It’s about growth, but it’s also about support. That’s the kind of energy I keep close — and the reason the momentum never stops.
