Katina, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
What I am most proud of enduring is what I couldn’t envision at one time. The detriment of facing what could have been my final and days and having to continue do life with little. Sixteen years ago, surviving brain surgery stands out as the single most defining moment where my children and I endured what didn’t make today look promising. My health was deteriorating rapidly, with specialists unable to determine the cause of my daily episodes of consciousness loss. Despite numerous tests and no prognosis for over a year, as a single mother in the prime of my career, it changes the way we live today. People often focus on the tangible aspects, neglecting the intangible depths that foster transformation. Everything that we do originates from an intangible place within us, serving as the ultimate source of lasting impact. My foundation stems from GOD and by only what he has allowed to the extent that for I give thanks and for that ultimately yields makes grateful.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Lack of integrity, lack of respect, lack of humanity, breaks bonds between people. Bond Restoration happens when people become self aware and own their actions. Acknowledgement and Application of betterment in the lives of people is the ultimate route to restoration. Relationship investments happen when acknowledgement happens and all parties work to operate in integrity, understanding, transparency, with open lines of communication, efficient, and effective support. Possessing unique human capacities for empathy, mutual understanding, vulnerability, forgiveness, and perspectives that are essential for healing fractured relationships and fostering reconnection.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Opportunities of growth and teachable moments have been my approach as it pertains to wounds in my life. We can use wounds as catalyst for growth, fostering a deeper sense of resourcefulness, and embodying the potential that lies within or we can allow it to diminish an opportunity to set movements in motion. I choose growth, fortitude, and resilience.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
A foundational truth in my life is that is GOD is real. I’m not sure how one could not attempt to articulate this, but more importantly, I hope that the sum total of those foundations truths are so evident that they demonstrated more so than articulated. May the fruit of what we believe be evident by the fruit of our lives.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
It is my sincere hope that when my story is complete, people will have borne witness to the remarkable ways in which GOD can orchestrate events in this realm. As an individual who has faced a multitude of challenges, including heartache, disappointment, betrayal, hurt, grief, and health failure, I have learned that even when the odds are against you, it is possible to begin anew. In a world filled with difficulties, I aspire to help. Even in the midst of struggle, it is possible to show up as a bright side. Rather than waiting for perfection, it is essential to love, hope, and stand anyway.
