Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Lisa Gerstenslager of La Jolla, California

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lisa Gerstenslager. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Lisa, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My mornings start with coffee and a quick mindset check — I review my calendar, set my priorities, and get ready to tackle the day. Once my kids are up, it’s a whirlwind of breakfast, laughs, and getting them out the door. Then it’s straight into business mode, diving into my most important and creative tasks while my energy is at its peak. Those first 90 minutes are all about focus, family, and setting the tone for a productive, positive

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Lisa Gerstenslager, founder of Body Sculpting by Lisa here in beautiful La Jolla. I help women and men feel confident in their own skin through non-invasive body contouring, custom spray tanning, and skin-tightening treatments. My studio is all about combining results with relaxation — every client gets a personalized experience in a warm, welcoming space.

What makes my brand unique is that I truly understand how transformative these treatments can be, not just physically but emotionally. I love seeing the boost in confidence when someone looks in the mirror and feels amazing about what they see. I use the latest technology, pair it with a personal touch, and focus on education so my clients know exactly how to get the best results.

Right now, I’m expanding my treatment menu and collaborating with other local wellness professionals so clients can enjoy a full spectrum of self-care under one roof. My goal is to create a space where people don’t just come for a service — they come for an experience that leaves them glowing, inside and out.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
The two people who taught me the most about work are my mom and my husband. My mom showed me, by example, that hard work and integrity go hand in hand — never cutting corners, treating people with respect, and pushing through challenges with grit and grace. Those lessons are at the core of how I run my business today.

My husband has been my rock for the past 23 years, supporting our family and being my biggest cheerleader through every stage of life and business. He’s the one who reminds me I can do hard things, encourages me to take risks, and celebrates every win — big or small. Between my mom’s work ethic and my husband’s unwavering support, I’ve had the best foundation to grow both as a person and as an entrepreneur.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes — in the early days of starting Body Sculpting by Lisa, I faced slow months, financial stress, and moments of self-doubt where I questioned if I’d made the right choice. But my passion for helping people feel confident, along with the support of my family, pushed me to keep going. Looking back, those hard times were the stepping stones to building the thriving business I have today.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie in the body sculpting industry? That there’s a magic machine that works the same for everyone and delivers instant, permanent results. The truth is, every body is different — real results come from customized treatments, realistic expectations, and a partnership between the client and the provider. Anything else is just good marketing.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. My drive comes from pride in my work and the results I deliver for my clients, not from applause. Of course, it’s nice to be recognized, but I believe the real reward is knowing I’ve given 100% and made a positive impact — even if no one’s watching.
