Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I moved to USA in 2017 with my wife who is a born in USA. I retired from professional cricket at that point in time
and thought that would be the end of my cricketing career…

Fast forward 9 years and I’m more involved in cricket than I could have ever imagined.

Some achievements include:

– playing for USA Men’s National Team
– establishing MK Cricket Academy
– USA National Women’s Selector
– Coaching in Major League Cricket
– Player Coach in Minor League Cricket

But more than any accomplishments it’s about to purpose, the purpose of guiding cricketers and giving them tools to become better cricketers and tools to help them navigate life.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I believe I am one of the luckiest people to have been able to spend my life playing cricket full time. I was exploded to the best cricket, strength, mental skills coaches in the world. That enabled me to become a professional cricketer New Zealand and also learn incredible tools to tackle life’s challenges.

My purpose now is to ensure I can give all that knowledge to the next generation as quickly as possible so they can learn cricket from a young age in all aspects. But again most importantly they develop skills and techniques that will assist them in life’s toughest moments.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Retiring from professional sport in New Zealand and starting a new life in USA.

No money, no friends, no family & no job.

I felt so small, no one to talk to, no sense of belonging, learning a new culture.

It was absolutely tough for both my wife and I as we found our feet in San Diego.

Confidence was at an all time low and not having any support close by was extremely tough.

My wife and I stuck together and supported each other.

Through this very tough year came a lot of light and resilience that has helped shape us today.

This year was tough but taught us so much.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
My biggest pet peeve is the lack of youth development in cricket within USA.

I see so many cricket teams turn a blind eye on developing youth. Their focus is so short sighted & cost many youth the opportunity for development from a young age.

The most common phrase I hear is “they don’t have experience”….

Of course they don’t!! No one is giving them enough exposure…

I’m trying to give exposure to as many youth as possible to fill this gap,

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Building a cricket ground that has full training facilities.
