We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mike Egbert. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Mike, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I am very proud of the great work my team, “Breakfast for Dinner!”, did on our 48-hour film project. We were able to come together and make an amazing film in just 48 hours.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
“Hello everyone! I’m **Mike Egbert**, and I’m a professional **Entertainer** whose mission is simple: to make people smile and laugh.
I’ve had a desire to connect with audiences and bring joy ever since I was a small child, and that passion has led me to explore almost every facet of entertainment. I’ve done it all—from **standup comedy** and **improv** on stage, to **acting, directing, writing, and producing films**. This wide range of experience gives me a unique perspective, allowing me to approach any project with both a creative vision and the technical know-how to bring it to life.
My Brand: Passion in Every Project
What makes my work unique is that I bring the same authentic, comedic energy, whether I’m writing a script or connecting with a community online.
Beyond the stage and screen, I channel that passion into my **YouTube channel, @eggsnbreakin**. This is where I share my other love—**trading cards**—with a vibrant community. It’s a space where I use my comedic timing and engaging style to offer a fun, entertaining break from the everyday.
What I’m Working On
Right now, I’m focused on finishing a film I have been working on for the past 2 years. Titled “Home Solo: A star Wars Toy story” and building my card collecting online presence that ties together my love for storytelling and community building. My goal is always to create content that doesn’t just entertain but truly connects with people, no matter the medium.”
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world stepped in, I was that wide-eyed, happy-go-lucky kid who genuinely believed that the best thing you could do in life was simply to make someone else smile. My core desire was to spread joy, connect with people, and, yes, be loved. I was innocent, happy, and carefree.
Life, of course, has a funny way of trying to change that. It layers on responsibilities, complexity, and a lot of seriousness.
But the beautiful thing about becoming an adult is you get to consciously choose which parts of that original person you want to keep and amplify. For me, that meant chasing that feeling of innocent joy again, not by escaping reality, but by infusing it into my work.
That original kid is the reason I am an entertainer today. He’s the silent partner in every standup set, every film I direct, and every piece of content on my YouTube channel. My work is not just a career; it’s a mission to take the joy and laughter that came so naturally to me then, and deliver it to the world now.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. To work in a creative and competitive field like entertainment means you constantly face rejection and projects that don’t pan out. There were certainly many times I felt the urge to give up, but this is where your determination and true passion push you past quit.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, absolutely. The public version of me is unequivocally the real me.
I genuinely believe that in the age of personal branding, people can instantly spot inauthenticity. My promise to my audience is simple: you only get one Mike Egbert. Whether I’m on stage performing standup, breaking open a pack of cards on the @eggsnbreakin channel, or just grabbing coffee, I’m just me—passionate, honest, and looking for a laugh.
Certainly, as an actor, I have the ability to portray a multitude of characters. That’s the craft. But my stage persona, my writing voice, and my on-camera energy are all fueled by my core personality.
It’s fundamentally important to me that people connect with the real Mike, not just a crafted stage persona. That commitment to being genuinely me is what builds trust, and ultimately, it’s what makes the humor and the storytelling land.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Looking back, my biggest regret—and one that I actively work to remedy—is not prioritizing my relationships enough in the past.
It was easy to get so focused on professional pursuits, career goals, or the hustle of daily life that I didn’t dedicate the necessary time and energy to the people who mattered most, whether in my marriages or in the early years of raising my kids. I will always wish I could have done more and been more present in those key moments.
However, that regret has become my most valuable lesson. It has given me a crystal-clear understanding of what truly matters. It now drives me to be fiercely present and intentional in my personal life and to bring that same authentic connection to my professional work and community, like on my YouTube channel.
My past regret now serves as a powerful reminder to put people first every single day.
