Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Sierra Gruber of San Diego

Sierra Gruber shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Sierra , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Spending quality time with loved ones has really brought me joy.
Time with good friends and time with the kiddos in my life. My first official niece was just born! I’m incredibly happy for my brother and his wife, welcoming the next generation of the family.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Sierra, owner of a little artistic boards and blossoms startup. I create charcuterie boards and floral arrangements. The creativity is more than just part of the job, it’s what fuels me, it feeds my soul. I love transforming food and florals into beautiful, artistic pieces that make people smile.
Each edible charcuterie arrangement I make is a unique, edible art piece.
Each floral design or bouquet I create is handcrafted — every stem is chosen with care and intention. I love working closely with clients so that their selections are part of the process, ensuring the final piece reflects the vision they had from the very beginning.
An elegant touch can elevate an ordinary gathering into an unforgettable experience. That’s what drives me — crafting moments of beauty and connection that people will remember long after the event is over.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents had a huge influence on my work ethic. My mom built her own business showing me creativity, and resilience. She really values experiencing life to the fullest. My dad, first a camp director and later a special education teacher, modeled steadfast reliability and dedication. I like to think I’ve carried forward both — her entrepreneurial spirit and his steady dependability.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Resilience. I have had to bounce back from things so many times. I know that as many times as I fall, I need to pick myself back up, dust off and try, try again. If everything were “easy” I would not have the perseverance I have today.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
Faith is my compass
My faith is the foundation of everything I do — it’s not something I always say out loud, but it quietly shapes every decision, every detail of my life.
Because I believe people matter, that we are created as precious, loved beings, I want my work to reflect that value. For me, creativity is soul-fuel — a way to bring beauty and connection into people’s lives through what I create

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think what people might miss about my legacy is that my work isn’t just about making something look beautiful. The boards, florals, and events are really about creating spaces where people feel valued, connected, and cared for. The beauty is the vessel, but the heart behind it has always been about people.
