We’re looking forward to introducing you to Wasim Hajjiri. Check out our conversation below.
Wasim, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Each day begins with a dedicated morning routine focused on mental clarity and physical well-being. The first hour is reserved for daily mental habits, including meditation, journaling, and physical fitness, while simultaneously feeding the mind with empowering content to set the tone for the day.
Following this, I transition into my professional work, which includes meetings with current clients, potential clients, and internal team members. These sessions are focused, strategic, and designed to drive progress and results.
After the workday, I engage in personal passions and hobbies that keep me grounded and energized—such as boxing, martial arts, surfing, pickleball, and running.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Wasim Hajjiri is the definition of relentless. Defying the odds, he journeyed from Jordan with an engineering degree to graduate with an MBA from the prestigious UCSD, the Rady School of Management.
With his heart set on getting his dream job at Qualcomm, he finally met victory after going through 55 recruiters, 20 receptionists, and 25 different job interviews!
After eschewing fast food and embracing the joy of broccoli, he whittled his body fat down to a minuscule 5% to win 3 gold medals and a world-class ranking in fitness. He is also a boxer competing in the USA.
Wasim is an Executive Career Coach who helps professionals land their dream job in record time with great salaries. He is also a two-time #1 best-selling author with numerous TV, radio, and magazine appearances, including Forbes, FOX, CBS, ABC, and iHeart Radio.
Wasim is a part of the Forbes Career Coaches Council and publishes articles covering career, health, personal development, and more.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
I’d say the biggest influence came from a powerful blend of both my mother and father. They were each self-made in their own right, my father a disciplined businessman who built his success from the ground up, and my mother a quiet force of resilience, strength, and grace. From an early age, I absorbed their values not through lectures, but through how they lived.
One memory that still shapes me today: My father often worked on construction and development projects, and he would hire teams of laborers to support the work. When dinner time came, he never treated them as “just workers.” Instead, he’d bring them into our home to sit and eat with us at the same table, no separation, no hierarchy. I’ll never forget that. That simple act taught me what servant leadership really looks like: seeing people, respecting them, and serving alongside them, not above them.
And my mother… she was the emotional backbone of our family. She taught me discipline not through punishment, but through presence. Her unwavering consistency, her care, and the way she carried herself through hardship really instilled in me the mental strength and emotional intelligence I now teach others. From her, I learned how to be still in chaos. How to stand tall when life tests you. How to lead not just with strategy, but with soul.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
One of my greatest passions has always been fitness and natural bodybuilding. Right before my first competition, my father passed away. It was a devastating moment. I thought about quitting everything—competing, working, even pursuing my goals.
But my mother stood by my side with incredible strength. With her support, I chose to turn that pain into fuel. I moved forward, competed, and won. That became a pivotal turning point in my life.
More recently, I lost a very close friend unexpectedly. It was another deep challenge, but because of the mindset I had developed over the years—from my parents and through my coaching work—I was able to process the grief and turn it into purpose. That experience became the foundation for my third book.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Lately, my biggest passion has been the study and practice of mental health, neuroscience, spirituality, and personal development. It’s something I live, teach, and apply daily. After working with thousands of people, I’ve seen firsthand that 80% of success comes down to mindset, with only 20% being strategy.
The unexpected loss of a close friend deepened my commitment to this work and led me to write my third book, How to Master the Mind and Unlock Your True Power. Through this journey, I’ve come to realize how essential mental and emotional discipline really is. When the mind is mastered, it allows us to move through life with greater peace, clarity, and purpose.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When my father passed away at nearly 90 years old, people came to say their goodbyes, not to speak about his professional success or accomplishments, but about his character. They shared stories of his kindness, his impact, and how he made them feel. That stayed with me.
It reminded me of what truly matters. I want to be remembered the same way, not just for what I did, but for how I made people feel. For being a positive force, for uplifting others, and for serving in a world that often leans toward pessimism. That, to me, is a life well lived.
