Today we’d like to introduce you to Ada Bautista.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ada. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I did my studies as a Fashion Designer, and I started the jewelry and accessory business as a compliment. At the moment, I am concentrating only on jewelry. I started in the area of fashion design, something that I also love and that I find very interesting but being a mother in those moments of a baby occupied much of my time in that and to continue creating I started in my free time to work with semi-precious stones and quartz, that was super exciting, handle the metals and crystals gave me another vision of fashion, began to enter orders from friends, they recommended me with their friends and Voilà!
I’m captivated by the raw and semi-precious stones, the malleability of the metals and the expression caused by a finished piece. I like simplicity with a unique touch. DISBAU is now a registered trademark and its origin lies in two words, DESIGN and my surname BAUTISTA, the first three letters of the two words, was a name that I dreamt of several years ago and I found it perfect since its pronunciation does not interfere with the different languages at a global level.
I am a wife and mother of three, I love to ride my bike on the road, I run around my city and I enjoy it a lot, I like the brewing and the flavors of a handcrafted beer and a good bitter chocolate, the truth is I like to enjoy life so I feel tremendously grateful.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Yeah, if you’re passionate about something and have a vision of what it can be… do not hesitate, do not let anyone or anything to weaken your project, everything starts with an idea. That idea (vision) can be developed, remember everything is possible. Surround yourself with people who believe in you but if they still can’t see the big picture, you go ahead, there will be moments that you sabotage yourself but remember: “It’s better done than perfect.” J Sincero
You’ll find your way.
Please tell us about Disbau.
Disbau has a mainly minimalist style, we use natural stones and we work in a percentage with rescued or vintage supplements, we have a line “RE by Disbau” where 80% is recycled, the most known line is the Minimalist one with our black onyx statement ring, or the risky Amorfo line by Disbau with which I risk a little more in terms of shapes, unevenness and mix of stones in a unique and subtle way.
The SKUll line where I work the pearls to carve them into small skulls that project a mysterious but clear and Beautiful style. The engagement rings that I love to work with because they are totally designed with the characteristics of the couple in mind.
Who have you been inspired by?
Well, the first one that comes to my mind would be Gabriel Coco Chanel, and not for his designs but for his character, for achieving everything in spite of the circumstances. I am inspired by those who work in the Art of those who are still firm, those who have another vision of things, the new generations, those who have clear that their voice is important, those who always seek how to do everything better.
