Life and Work with Alecsa Geaga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alecsa Geaga.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Alecsa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am currently a 4th-year student attending the University of California, San Diego. I am studying International Business and will be graduating this upcoming June. I also work part-time as an events assistant and I would love diving into the events industry as one of my professions. I also have a love for fashion and thrifting/vintage-finding. Going to college has always made me constantly question what my passions are, what I want to get out of this experience, and what I see myself doing after I graduate. Like any student, the feeling of pressure and finding what you want to do is constantly coming across your mind. I decided to take the opportunity to study abroad this past fall to expand my worldview and to grow out of my comfort zone. The experience helped me to be more open-minded, independent and gave me the travel bug that I feel like will never go away.

Has it been a smooth road?
I feel like I am my biggest obstacle. I also feel like I am still starting my journey as well, and I completely understand what it feels like trying to establish yourself. Just trying to find ways to push myself whether it be with school, with work, and being the best I can be overall, instead of wanting to give up can be a constant battle. Dealing with pressures from school, work, family, and even yourself can be a lot, but I have learned the importance of reaching out. Whether it is questions you did not understand on an exam, to figure out something for work that you were scared to ask for, or even just telling your family members that things are hard, I realized the questions I get too scared to ask or the things I am scared to say prevent me from learning more, growing more, and being more open. Now, step by step, I am finding ways to push myself to grow. That also includes self-care and “me-time.” Whether it be putting on a face mask to end the long day or a 30-minute workout session, things that help me keep my mind off things while also improving my overall health is important to me as well. Also, just being around people that motivate, push, influence, but most importantly support me is a huge bonus.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Behind the pictures I post, I am a 4th-year international business major student who also is a part-time events assistant. However, I have a love for fashion and putting together clothes. I also buy and resale clothes online as well. I express myself through social media like Instagram and have a love for showcasing my style for anyone to see. I also hope to create a passion project with my love for fashion and am planning on creating my own site for buying and reselling.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
I am constantly looking for things to read or listen to that help me gain more insight, perspective, and influence. Current podcasts I am listening to are Pretty Okay, LadyGang, Ladies Like Us, GirlBoss Radio, and Business of Hype. I also love the Aura app and any kind of other meditation apps.
