Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Zabala.
Alyssa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I graduated from UCSB (olé!) and started my career managing spas and wellness programs. I started my yoga journey shortly after and earned my first 200-Hr RYT in Bali. It was my first time traveling abroad so it opened my eyes to this big, beautiful world and started a journey of self-discovery. I began teaching yoga on the beach in Coronado and at a few other studios in San Diego. As my love for health and wellness grew, I joined a fitness startup as their Customer Happiness Manager. I loved being surrounded by people who were passionate about wellness and helping others. I knew that I wanted to help others show up as the best version of themselves. I wanted to leave each person a little brighter and happier after our time together. After a few years of working at various startups, I decided to open up my own digital marketing agency. We focus on helping non-profits, creatives, and those who want to positively impact the world by getting their message out via social media management, website design, graphic design, branding, and much more. My hope is that I get to work with even more amazing, creative people all over the world.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road and wasn’t always easy. A smooth journey without some bumps in the road just isn’t as fun. 😉 I recently learned about imposter syndrome and realized I had been dealing with this for some time. Fear can be a major roadblock. Trust me, I still struggle with it now, but I’ve been supported and inspired by my awesome family and friends. It truly means the world to have them by my side.
My advice is to get started on your journey now, keep pushing through those hard times, put a smile on, and always trust your intuition. Know your value and your worth. If you aren’t enthusiastically saying “hell yes!” to a situation, you should double check if your heart is truly in it. Everything you do should be done with love. Life is just way too short to waste your time worrying about small things.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Da Bombb – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I own two digital marketing agencies, teach yoga, play and perform music, dance, and so much more.
I’m most proud of starting my own agency, Da Bombb, this year. It’s been so amazing to learn and grow from so many people to get to this point. We are known for being the experts in the social media marketing world and I love sharing this expertise and knowledge with others.
What makes me and Da Bombb apart from the rest? Our devotion to helping others. If you’re a part of something bigger than yourself and give selflessly, the world opens up in the most magical way. I’m honored to work with some amazing people and clients who are truly making a beautiful impact on the world.
Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
One of the biggest barriers that I see, especially since my work revolves around social media, is how comparison can be a thief of joy. We often only see the highlight reel of people’s lives and I believe that being vulnerable and open to the struggles that come along with leadership is key. People appreciate authenticity. There is so much greatness that can be created when we empower and support each other, rather than waste valuable energy competing and comparing ourselves to others.
