Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Askerneese.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Angel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was not rich growing up so I always knew I wanted to be successful. I wanted to be able to live by my own rules and create on my own terms. I knew entrepreneurship was the way for me to get what I wanted, how I wanted it. I had an affinity for hair at a young age. As I got older, I knew I needed to gain knowledge on the science of hair.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It was an obstacle to adjust after stepping out on my own after serving the military community for years. I loved my military clients. I didn’t like the company I worked for because I felt I couldn’t give my clientele 100%. I’d rather be able to give my clients what they deserve every single time they sit in my chair.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I attended City College for my licensure. I’ve been a licensed cosmetologist since 2005. I specialize in healthy hair care. I am known for natural hair styling and protective styles. What sets me apart from others is that I care about the state of the hair and I make a point to be respectful of everyone’s time. I want my clients to be educated and informed on their hair’s health.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
My mother worked hard to provide for myself and my sister. I knew I wanted to give back to her, all that she put out to us.
