Life and Work with Anna Thompson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Thompson.

So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Hi! I’m Anna Marie, and I’m 20 years old. Originally a Colorado girl, but found myself living the California life for about three years now. From a very young age, I had found a love for sports and health at five years old when I joined my local swim team.

Growing up, I was always active but yet was very unhappy with my body. From the age of eight years old, all I could think about is my body and my next meal. I was so uneducated, so young, and so lost that I found myself at 13 years old 173 lbs, drinking only meal replacement shakes and doing 4 hours of cardio a day, which led to binge eating on the weekends.

The day I decided to make the change and put myself first not only change my whole body, but my confidence was forever changed. Six years later, I can proudly say I have found my niche, changed my life, and want to help others do the same!

I am a NASM certified personal trainer and am SO passionate about helping you all change your life. I launched my own online personal training business in July 2019. Where I take busy women from a crazy hectic excuse filled life, where you feel like you have no time for yourself. You cut out foods randomly in hope to find the slightest amount of confidence or to fit into that cocktail dress for that weekend party. To creating accountability, food freedom, and their dream body while eating foods they love and lifting heavy!

In an industry that is always evolving, I am always looking to improve and better myself each and every day. I love to share my own daily wins and struggles on my online platforms like Instagram @anna_marie9090 and facebook (Anna Marie Thompson). As well as spread knowledge of fitness related topics and motivate others to live a life where you prioritize your health and wellbeing.

Has it been a smooth road?
My journey hasn’t felt easy. My biggest struggles stemmed from constantly comparing myself to everyone else around me. Whether it had been girls at school, co-workers, celebrities, and even friends/family. That internal struggle reflected on me externally and caused me to isolate myself for social events and continue to live in a shadow of who I really wanted to be.

I found myself from a very young age with body image issues because of this. I wanted my body to look a certain way because I thought that’s how it was “supposed” to be. While I encourage healthy living through an active lifestyle immensely, I also believe loving yourself first is what creates lifestyle changes.

I am an active preacher of changing daily habits bit by bit in order to create a lifestyle change instead of just going on another “diet plan” in order to get your physique to a certain place by a certain time. Think of whatever you do right now in your own journey, ask yourself. Can I see myself doing this for the rest of my life? If not, ask yourself who and what do you need in order to create that for yourself.

That’s what I do for women, I help them create a lifestyle that they can see themselves doing for the rest of there lives. Free of restriction and full of all the things you love.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I am a NASM certified personal trainer. I run an online coaching business, where I take women from point A to B using my coaching program, weekly check-ins, accountability groups, and loads of education. Women walk out of my program knowing exactly how and why they made changes, and all the tools in order to continue their journey without me or any other coach for the rest of their lives!

I specialize in creating food freedom through macro tracking and strength training, to have women feeling sexy and strong without being afraid of looking “bulky”.

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
The biggest barriers today in the female fitness industry is the astronomical amount of cookie-cutter programs being sold by women who have large online platforms or resemble the “ideal” body, but have no true education or have used outside resources beyond healthy eating and exercise in order achieve their bodies. Also beyond this, many people are so highly misinformed due to the amount of nasty sales tactics mlms and supplement businesses use to make women feel like they need unnecessary products and programs in order to achieve their short term goals. Which actually ends up being very unhealthy and can lead to yo-yo dieting.
