Today we’d like to introduce you to Brigid Jean Howse.
Brigid Jean, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I moved from San Francisco to San Diego this May in search of sunshine and a chill lifestyle! I have been doing hair for five years and find new inspiration every day. I met Anna and Heather, the owners of Goldline Salon, and instantly felt a connection to them and their space. It’s the perfect blend of high-level hair care, beautiful design, and a friendly crew. One client described it as the feminine version of a neighborhood barbershop, which I love!
I’m so excited to explore San Diego and do gorgeous hair here.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I do hair! I am primarily a salon stylist and colorist, and I also do editorial styling. My vision for my clients is to give them cool girl hair that they don’t have to work at every day. Easy, low maintenance cuts and color.
I’m inspired by street fashion photography, 70s surf culture, and vintage fashion. I’m also inspired by my clients who come in with the coolest photo references.
My dream editorial job would be for Miu Miu or Valentino.
How do you, personally, define success? What’s your criteria, the markers you’re looking out for, etc?
Hair is much more client-focused than many other crafts, so the ultimate success is when the client loves the result! Ideally, there is a synergy between client and artist in which the two visions merge and both client and artist fall in love with the final look.
