Life and Work with Camaryn Sullivan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camaryn Sullivan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Camaryn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My love for fashion didn’t really start until I moved to San Diego six years ago. I think with time, I started to come into my own, and only recently did I feel 100% comfortable with my body to really start wearing the clothes I want to wear. You should have seen me in high school, YIKES! When I was pregnant, someone at work made a comment that I wouldn’t be able to wear anything other than sweatsuits from now on and let’s be real, I love comfy clothes but I thought to myself, there have to be cute maternity clothes out there. I was determined to look good with my bump and throughout my pregnancy, I got compliments left and right about what I was wearing. People who weren’t even pregnant were asking me where I got my clothes from and it felt good. After I gave birth, I just decided I needed to start dressing for myself and not for others. I felt confident enough throughout my pregnancy to do so, why shouldn’t I feel confident after. For the first few months of my son’s life, I remember really wanting to start a lifestyle blog. I talked my husbands ear off about it, day and night until one day, we took the plunge and went for it. I say we because my husband is a huge part of my blog. Without him, I’d go nuts and never get anything done on time. He’s extremely supportive of everything I want to do and that’s a big deal. Frompalmtosea was born in April of this year and I plan on blogging for as long as I can.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a rough road. I’ve only been blogging for two months now, and so far I’m really happy with how things are going. I learn new things every day and with that comes growth. Some things I wasn’t anticipating was how much money I would spend just to get things started. My number one piece of advice for someone wanting to start a Blog is to try and be as organized as you possibly can. People think blogging is so glamorous but it’s actually a lot of work. I take photos with my photographer and plan posts weeks in advance because I’m a mom and I still work a normal everyday job, so being organized is important for me.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Frompalmtosea Blog – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Frompalmtosea was born to serve as a creative outlet for myself. A place I could go to post my outfits, reviews on skincare, talk about mom life, do fun giveaways, and interact with like-minded people. I haven’t found “my thing” yet. I don’t know if there’s anything unique that sets me apart from other bloggers but that doesn’t mean I’m boring or “just like everyone else”. Like I said, I’m still learning and growing as a new blogger, so one day, I hope to find my niche, but for now, I’m just having fun posting about things I truly love. I hope that what I do post speaks to even one person, and if it makes them feel something, then I’ve done what I sought out to do.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Before I started Blogging, I listened to Julie Solomons The Influencer Podcast. She’s such a great speaker and has some amazing tips. I highly recommend giving her a listen.

The apps I use on my phone to edit photos are Darkroom, VSCO, Snapseed and for fun, I like using Unfold and Over to create photo collages.
