Life and Work with Carli Storms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carli Storms.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Carli. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
My love for music developed when I was young. I grew up in Chandler, AZ and was heavily involved in musical theater. I was very passionate about it, and for a long time, I wanted to make it on Broadway. But all of that changed in middle school when I became interested in making commercial music. I knew I would have the best chance pursuing my passions if I moved to LA. So that’s precisely what I did. After finishing high school, I did a brief tenure at ASU. It was around this time I realized I needed to re-align with my passion for music. Then, I decided to go to school for audio engineering at CRAS in AZ. Immediately after finishing school, I moved to LA. I’ve been working at recording studios for the past three and a half years. It exposed me to all kinds of people in the music industry and has been a great tool to network. But this past year, everything has started to come to fruition with my music.

I realized I had everything I needed to make music by myself. So I set out to make an EP. I wrote, produced and recorded the entire project myself. Then I turned it over to my friend Zach Acosta to mix, and my friend Matt Jacobson to master. The project is named ‘Soul Searching’ and is out on all streaming platforms now. I really poured my heart and soul into this project and came from an honest place within myself to express my truth. Right now, I’m very focused on my continued personal and musical growth. My goal is to unite people, as well as spread positivity and love through my music. To touch someone’s heart and help heal them through music is a beautiful privilege.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been smooth, but it hasn’t been terrible either. In my opinion, the road is always going to have bumps and curves in it. There have definitely been times where I questioned myself. It’s tough to be out on your own and feeling things out along the way. But I always keep in mind that everything is meant to be, and will ultimately help me grow as a person. The best advice I could give a woman starting out in their career is to step out of your comfort zone. Go with the flow, and be confident in yourself. I’m a big believer in manifesting your desires. If you believe in what you’re doing, and are working on improving yourself; you’re going to find your path.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with your business – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Right now, I work at a Paramount Recording Studios in LA while working on my music on the side. I consider myself an artist, producer, and audio engineer. I think what sets me apart from others is that I am knowledgeable in the creative and technical aspects of music which makes me well-rounded.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
It’s true that women do face a lot of challenges. But there are always two sides to every coin. There are definitely lots of opportunities out there for women as well. I personally would like to see more women in positions of leadership. I think that women are great for these kinds of positions because we embody many aspects that make for a great leader. So many industries are male-dominated. I think it’s important that we diversify and balance out the scales, so to speak. Women are powerful and beautiful beings. If you are passionate about something, go out there and give it everything you’ve got. I believe in you!
