Today we’d like to introduce you to Clarisa Evans.
Clarisa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As a child, I remember I wanted to be so many things. I saw my amazing mother as a business owner, a minister, and a counselor to many. I knew the sky was the limit, and if it was in my reach, you better believe I was going to grab it. I had many challenges, but that never stopped me from moving forward. I am now a licensed daycare owner, patient care specialist at CAPS pregnancy clinics and a fashion show coordinator for local bridal expos. I am also a wife, and my most rewarding job is that I am a mother to three phenomenal children.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road for me. Growing up dyslexic made almost everything more of a challenge. But I didn’t let that paralyze me in fear; I took the challenges head-on. My faith in God, knowing that He has always had a plan and purpose for my life, and the support of my amazing family in everything I did kept me going. If you really want something, go for it. You will be surprised by how strong you really are and the open doors that present themselves.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am the proud owner of Fort Evans Family Daycare, which is located in East County. We provide a safe, nurturing, and loving environment for all God’s children. We have learning time, tons of age-appropriate games, and outdoor play. It’s such an honor partnering with these parents in raising their little ones. I have always had a love for children, so the fact that I get to wake up every morning and do something that I love I’d consider myself blessed. My major is in early child development. I am licensed through the state of California and am also first aid and CPR certified. I have well over 10 years of experience, but I am always learning something new with these little ones!
You can also find me at CAPS Pregnancy Clinics at the downtown San Diego location where I serve as a patient care specialist. We provide free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, prenatal vitamins, STD testing, and other pregnancy resources all free of charge.
Lastly, you can find me putting on an amazing fashion show with all the latest bridal trends at the San Diego Wedding Party Expo! I have a true passion for fashion, and sometimes you’ll even catch me rocking the runway modeling. The expos are held quarterly in different locations all over San Diego county.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
The best advice I would give for networking is to just get out there and talk to people. Find events that fit your interests or your field of work and share your vision with others. You’d be surprised by the connections you can make and potential mentors that will take you under their wing. Most importantly, don’t look down on small beginnings. Everyone has to start somewhere, so just keep going!
