Life and Work with Denise Ealy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Ealy.

Denise, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I worked for a bank in Las Vegas for ten years, had already gone to UNLV and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Commiunications with a minor in Human Resource Management. And I thought, “what’s next?!” So, I decided to follow my life long dream of becoming a hairstylist and moving to a beach community. Packed my bags after Cosmetology school and headed west. Since landing here in San Diego in January of 2006, I have successfully grown my business through word of mouth. I love meeting new people and especially love helping them look and feel good!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Growing a business from virtually nothing has not been easy. I had to get out of my comfort zone and persuade people to let me cut and color their hair… with not much training in the beginning. Thank goodness for some really great friends who believed in and trusted me! It’s important to maintain your confidence and keep your eye on your goals. Just plan your work and work your plan!

Please tell us about Styles by Denise Ealy.
As a hairstylist, I love empowering people to feel confident while I help them achieve their goals with their hair. It’s really nice to spend 1 to 3 hours with my clients… I really get to be in their world and find out what is important to them. I specialize in cuts and color for both men and women. Anything from all over color, highlights to balayage techniques. Curly hair is fun to cut, color and style, as well!

Who have you been inspired by?
Some of my closest friends have inspired me through my life. I love surrounding myself with successful women who have either started businesses, have a family and/or are part of organizations. Maintaining a healthy work/life balance is important. I watch and learn from my closest girlfriends.
