Life and Work with Diane Tuazon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diane Tuazon.

Diane, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My background comes from the television business. I’ve been blessed with an impressive 15-year career as a TV Host, News Reporter, and Weather Anchor for several news affiliates such as CBS, ABC, and FOX News. I’ve worked as a TV Newscaster in top television markets from Las Vegas, San Francisco and San Diego. My passions have always been in two things. Journalism and Real Estate. So I decided to take on both as my career. After all, they say you should do what you love, and I believe why not do all the things you love? So, I did.

Even with a busy schedule as it is, I turned my long-time passion for real estate into now my second, full-time career. I’m a Realtor serving the Las Vegas and San Diego market, all the while still gracing the screens with my journalistic talent on television.

Has it been a smooth road?
Nothing good ever comes easy, and I’m a testament to that. I knew what I wanted to become since I was a young girl. I knew that being in front of the cameras and appearing on television to inform people of what’s happening in the community fascinated me. I knew I wanted to pursue a career in broadcast journalism, and I did so by completing my bachelor’s degree in just two and a half years at UNLV. It wasn’t easy. It required a lot of hard work, dedication, and persistence in wanting that life goal achieved.

Even after graduating from college and landing my first TV news job, it still wasn’t easy. The pressure of deadlines, reporting accurately and fairly, all come with the requirements of the job. In the television news business, we are faced with obstacles each day we cover ‘ breaking news,’ but it’s a challenge I take on each day. Because I love what I do.

My advice to other women is simple. Follow your passion. Whatever it is in your heart that calls on you to jump out of bed in the morning and get the day started; do that. And you’ll live a genuinely happy life.

What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
There isn’t really one thing that I specialize in. I believe in doing what you love, and I’ve done it all. I’m a TV News Reporter, Weather Anchor, and now a real estate agent in San Diego. I’m most proud of my strong work ethic and perseverance; that no matter what I put my mind to, I know I’ll work hard at accomplishing it.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I was always the quiet kid that got picked on for being shy, and overweight, and wore braces. I wasn’t a popular girl, but I also wasn’t the girl who needed popularity. I knew I was different, I just hadn’t embraced it at a young age I was back then. Now, I’ve blossomed and fully become comfortable in my own skin and have shaped myself into becoming a strong, intelligent, independent, career-driven woman.
