Today we’d like to introduce you to Elena Navarro.
Elena, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I convinced my mom to let me start wearing makeup in the 7th grade. I always loved the idea of making yourself feel beautiful and confident with some lipstick and eyeliner. I began to share my makeup looks on social media about 2 years ago and my YouTube channel last year. This year, I landed my first modeling campaign and was chosen to be one of the faces for the Beauty Bakerie Cake mix Foundation! I focus on cruelty-free beauty and lifestyle because animals are something I’ve always been passionate about.
Has it been a smooth road?
Life will always throw obstacles at you, as DREAMER(undocumented youth) I always struggled to find my passion and after high school, I was unable to go to college with all my friends so I decided to myself to what I’m passionate about, makeup and animals. No matter what life throws at you remember to stay positive and humble. With hard work and dedication, anything is possible!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with justnenaaa – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I work at Ulta Beauty and film videos for my YouTube channel in my free time. I also with Beauty Bakerie to create content for their Instagram. I focus on cruelty-free beauty and lifestyle content. I recently went vegan so that’s something I’ve been focusing on and sharing my journey with my audience and it has been so rewarding! The one thing that set me apart from others is the connection and conversations I have with my audience and how supportive they are, I always make sure I reply to every DM or comment I get. I struggle openly struggle with anxiety and depression so having an amazing support team on social media truly makes me happy and reminds me that I’m not alone on my journey.
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
As a woman, I feel like we always forget how strong we really are, I’m a firm believer in the women empowerment movement and it’s our duty to always support and root for each. We are capable of anything we set our mind to. Find what you’re passionate about and make it happen! Whether you want to become a makeup artist or the first female president, woman are well positioned for everything and anything.
