Today we’d like to introduce you to Ericka Coronado.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ericka. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I grew up with a great example, my mom, who always had her own business, so I always had the idea of being my own boss. Since I was young, I remember that I loved planning parties with my friends, participating in student organizations and any contest related to artistic and creative things. Before finishing college, I started my own business, it was called Party Zone, a super fun service where I looked over children’s parties and organized activities and contests for children, I started to offer more services for the holidays, such as invitations, party favors for children and adults and I loved to interact with children every weekend. My business was evolving depending on what the public was asking for and according to my life experience.
At that time, I lived in Tijuana and the situation with organized crime began to worsen and I had to emigrate, first I spent some time in Los Angeles, then in Las Vegas Nevada.
During that time, I had the opportunity to renew myself, create new ideas and take the strength to return to my city and start my great project which I have been working on for 10 years now. I also opened my creative space where I have been able to share with my clients what they have like and love most, EriCo Ideas/Art /Design. It started with creating and designing invitations, then I continued with centerpieces and suddenly I found myself organizing events like weddings, baby and bridal showers, and so my little business continued to grow little by little when suddenly another change came to my life, I found the man of my dreams, we married and I moved to San Diego. At first, I thought it would be very difficult to continue with my life and business here but to my surprise, it was the opposite!
In 2012, I started a new proposal within my business, beautiful giant paper flowers, which have given me so much and are still one of my star products and services.
From the first time, I released them for sale, I love them. I started to create flowers for all kinds of events, and the demand was so big that I thought more people should know this beautiful art and thru my in person and online workshops I was able to share it with hundreds of women in Mexico, the United States and around the world. These giant paper flowers opened the doors to a new world for me, they were the reason I was invited to participate in one of the most important art festivals in San Diego, the Latin-American Art fair. I was able to meet wonderful people and continue to share this beautiful world of flowers.
I opened my creative workshops where I also give workshops with succulents, these beautiful and so noble plants that I love.
All this new world of workshops led me to meet so many women and to detect a great need, it seemed many of my students did not know how to take their business to the next level, this is why this year one of my main goals is to help more women succeed with their businesses, using workshops to teach them the tools necessary to achieve it.
At the same time, I created a community in social media, what I call WOMAN POWER SAN DIEGO, with one of our main mottos TOGETHER WE ARE STRONGER I hope to connect many women to achieve their goals and inspire them with my life story, because just as this long journey has had many triumphs it has also had many obstacles that I have been able to overcome to get to where I am now. I think one of the most important points to be able to achieve your goals is believing in yourself, to be able to create, to be able to win, and to be able to achieved your goals, and always remain very clear that success is measured in the happiness of each person and not in the money or power that you can accumulate
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It will be not easy, and the struggle is real, but you have to work for your dreams and enjoy the journey and the most important thing believe in yourself, love yourself first always
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Eri Co. Ideas/Art/Design – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
My favorite thing about my work is my workshops. I love to share my love for paper art and my succulents
Another thing that I love is to see the work of my students after they took my workshops and how proud they feel about their creations.
I take a lot of time preparing every workshop, I like to put special attention on every detail maybe this can be the difference in my work, my special touch.
