Today we’d like to introduce you to Estefany Maxim.
Estefany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My fashion designer journey started at a really young age. Around the age of six, I was very involved in the modeling industry and beauty pageants. I would always be fascinated with the gowns I would model. Since my mother is also a fashion designer, I was exposed to the business from early on. I was always surrounded by sewing machines, mannequins, fabric and thread. I remember being four years old and being really excited to go fabric shopping with my mother. My mother has definitely been one of my biggest inspirations through my fashion designer journey.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been a smooth road through my career. I have had many ups and downs. Just from not knowing where to start and how to start was a challenge. Majoring in fashion design was definitely not easy. If I could give any young women advice that are starting their own business it would be to never give up and keep going no matter the challenges along the way.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Estefany Maxim – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m a fashion designer specialized in gowns and bridal dresses. I’m known for my elaborated silhouette designs. It makes me extremely happy and proud when my clients are in love with their one-of-a-kind designs. One thing in particular that sets me apart from others would be my connection with my clients, and my dedication and exclusivity of my designs.
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well-positioned for?
I definitely believe there is an opportunity for entrepreneur women. Having a degree in fashion design has brought new opportunities for me in the fashion industry. I believe that if you persevere and have the endurance to follow your passion, great things will always encounter you. You determine your future by the amount of effort you’re willing to put.
