Thanks for sharing your story with us Glenda. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My lash career started two years ago when I realized that I was working the 8-5 shifts without being happy. I used to work as a nurse and being honest I never had time for myself. Since I was in high school, I loved to do my make up and especially wear strip eyelash extensions, I’ve always said that your eyes speak louder than words. Literally, I used to wear lashes every day! One day after work I was talking to my husband and he came up with a bright idea… he said to go back to school and do something that you really want, immediately, I decided to enroll in Cosmetology school, I was beyond excited since it was my opportunity to do what I’ve always wanted!
Has it been a smooth road?
When I first started it was a bumpy road since I had to work and go to school at the same time. I had bills to pay just like everyone else has, but even though the path was hard for me the only good thing is that I never gave up on my dreams. Three months into school, I had to quit my eight to five job, but in all honesty, today, I can say that quitting my job was the best decision I’ve ever made… I was happier than ever. As soon as I graduated, I started going to my client’s houses to do their lashes. My first step was a hard thing to do, but again, it was all worth it. After three months in the lash business, I had my own salon! Also, I am beyond blessed to have a supportive family because without them I wouldn’t be where I’m today!
My best advice to everyone who is planning on starting a business, applying for a new job, starting school, changing careers… etc. whatever you want to do, do it now! Tomorrow is not guaranteed… today is the day, just remember at the end of the day it’s all worth the try!

Fabulash Sd is located in Chula Vista. When I first started looking for a salon, I wanted to make sure it was in a nice and safe area. Fabulash salon is not only for eyelash extensions, but I do also lash lifts for all those who like the natural look. I work on all types of eyes, shapes, lengths, from natural extensions (classics) to the most dramatic looks (Mega Volume) as well as waxing service for my clients. I’m a 2x Volume certified lash artist while Fabulash is mostly known to have the best quality and prices all over San Diego. Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well-positioned for?
Who runs the world? Girls! Now that we are in 2019, girls have been more accepted in society to do things men can do. Women are leaders and we are especially strong in leadership. We can do just about anything we set our minds to. Us women have had to deal with and take so much controversy yet we are striving to this day!
