Today we’d like to introduce you to Hedda Parashos.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I didn’t start my career in real estate. My journey was all over the place actually, I worked retail at Nordstrom and then did insurance for Triple A. After having a 2nd child, I was a stay-at-home mom for five years but after both kids started school, the glamour of being a “housewife” wore off. During that time, my husband and I were involved in real estate, buying & flipping mainly on a personal level, because of that experience, I decided to get my real estate license & entered the industry in 2006. But now, because of adapting to new technology, being aggressive and having a passion, In 2012, I bought the brokerage that I worked for with equally powerful women & men all around me.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. In the beginning, it was actually tough! I had to convince my husband, a successful attorney and broker in the area to hire me. He didn’t cut me any slack, in my first year, he fired me three times but yet, I kept showing up at work. It took me about a year to close my first transaction. I knew I had to step my game up so I worked harder to do better the next year. This business is not easy, I began exploring unconventional ways to boost my business. One of them was heavily investing in an online marketing site. This new tech-focused approach was new to me and I immediately saw result & success, which brought me to a unique proposition of buying the company I worked for. Slowly, I began hiring many of my stay at home mom friends and previous client. I would take my friends under my wing and would try to fit years of experience into a 2-week course. I have modeled my entire business around online marketing and until to this day, is the underlying driver for the growth of my company… I’m a sucker for anyone looking for an opportunity or a break esp. women because they were just like me. They bring me back to where I was so I feel like I need to help others who were in my situation. I started this business when I was 33. I never thought I was smart enough to make it in real estate but I’ve learned that anyone can succeed when they feel inspired and empowered. I feel like I have done that for many people who have asked for my help esp, women. My advice for anyone who’s just starting out, give it all you’ve got even if it’s not your dream job yet because the hard work you’ve put in today will lead you to the career you’ve always hoped for. Be patient and above all, enjoy the moment & not knowing everything. It is through taking chances, creativity, curiosity, mistakes and naivete that makes us better,
