Life and Work with Kaelyn Ryan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaelyn Ryan.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kaelyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all began my sophomore year of college when I was between majors and did not which to choose. Between Broadcast Journalism and Public Health, I went with Journalism. It has always been my dream to work in a field or build my business where I am impacting the world, able to use my personality and travel the world. After long talks with my parents and praying to God on the right direction I changed my major. From there I began to learn the ins and outs of this career and have learned so much in the past year and a half. While working hard in class perfecting basic skill while anchoring and reporting, I wanted to have something outside of class where I could apply all that I learn from class. This was the beginning of my talk show, “NEXT UP!” NEXT UP, is my show where I showcase the talents, passions and opinions of people who are chasing a dream. In this world, it is typical to get interviewed once you’ve “made it.” I wanted to highlight those who are grinding and are successful right now before they reach the level of success the worlds deems worthy. Basically respecting and celebrating people before the fame. It’s gratifying to be able to provide a platform for individuals like me, hungry for success and going after life unapologetically.

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest struggles had to be my own thoughts. Your mind can either push you in the right direction or keep you from pursuing your dreams. I was too consumed with the idea of not being received by the public that it caused me to sit on my talent and dream for over a year. The only way I was able to get out of my own way was to choose to believe in myself and remind myself that if God is the author of my story, then why am I worried about how it ends? Once I got that through my head I have felt unstoppable since then. With the help of my supportive and knowledgeable parents and sister, I have been encouraged throughout this whole journey. The crowd you keep around you effects your dramatically, I appreciate my friends for being there when I couldn’t be there for myself.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with NEXT UP Interviews – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I do not believe in putting myself in a box this early on, I have decided to use myself, my personality and skills to enter many rooms! I can be your event host, red carpet interviewer, TV personality, videographer/ editor and writer. All of these things go hand and hand in the world of broadcast journalism. I am most proud of the fact that I have found a niche that allows for me to share other deserving people’s stories. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I am utilizing my platform to shine a lot on my peers and others who are just as driven and passionate about their dreams. My show “NEXT UP” is not only the title of the show, but it is a declaration that I am absolutely the next big thing on and off the screen! I pray this show gives my guest the encouragement, confidence and start they need to keep going and become next up in their line of work too. I am building a brand and an empire. I am proud of the fact that although others opinions do not matter, that the response to my work overall has been constructive, positive and helpful. I appreciate all the love shown thus far.

Who have you been inspired by?
First and foremost, my mother DuShon Glass has been the definition of excellence for me. Throughout all of her life, she has made anything that would typically stunt the next person’s growth and has not only made it through, but ends up in a better position in the end – while positively effecting those around her. Her level of faith and being the best example of a woman who is following God is by far inspiring to me. Without my mom being the phenomenal woman, business owner and wife she is, I would not be who I am today. I pray I make her proud. In addition to my lovely mother, women in the industry who have had a positive impact on me would have to be Nicki Minaj, Wendy Williams and Kandi Burris. Nicki Minaj because she is unapologetic and made the world hear what she had to say. Her work ethic is worthy of an applause. She confirmed for me that it’s okay to express yourself how you choose and still kick down doors in male dominated fields. Wendy Williams, similar to Nicki Minaj does not apologize for who she is and stands by who she is. She confirms for me that if you remain your true authentic self, there is a place for you in this world! Last but not least, Kandi Burris is on my list for the fact that she literally turns everything good or bad in her life into a dollar sign. She has countless streams of income and can’t be stopped by any lies or criticism.
