Life and Work with Kailea Crommett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kailea Crommett.

Kailea, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I grew up surrounded by the energies of the ocean, the lava, and the forests on the Big Island of Hawai’i. I practiced dance of all forms until my late teens which helped me cultivate a deep body awareness and intuition. I have always been sensitive to energy and at an early age, this manifested outwardly as me feeling overwhelmed and shy. In adulthood, this developed into a blessing for holding space and to connecting with my clients on a deeper level.

I received my first Reiki attunement in 2013 while living in Saint Augustine, Florida. This moment revolutionized my life, jump-started my spiritual awakening, and a lifelong journey of self-awareness solidified. Circumstances drastically shifted for me in the following year when I relocated across the country to Ocean Beach, San Diego. There, I received my second level Reiki attunement in the spring of 2014. Life transitioned even more for me as I delved into the work. I continued to practice, also assisting my teacher with her level one and two training courses. I sought as much knowledge and skill in the beautiful art of Reiki healing as I could.

My teacher and I began co-facilitating Reiki full moon goddess circles at that time. I truly enjoyed empowering women to embark upon their healing journeys. Weekly, I also traveled to a North County healer’s market to offer Reiki to the public and meet more healers in the area. I grew through the experience and honed skills in the process. My Reiki Master attunement came in the winter of 2017. Shortly afterwards, Waves Of Light Healing SD was born. I am fortunate to treat clients out of my lovely zen room at home where I incorporate a relaxing and powerful healing experience utilizing essential oils, singing bowls, and crystals.

It occurred to me that there were probably many other healers like me who were not getting the chance to practice or lacked the know how to get their businesses off the ground. I mentioned the idea over tea to my friend, Justina Aura, a healer who has events and admin background. At the time, it was just a dream but all you need is one person to remind you to believe in your own capabilities. That and many hours of hard, passionate work! Our friendship, our partnership is exceptionally nourishing for both of us. Women supporting and encouraging each other without pretense, living fully in our authenticity is the foundation.

Together, we created Sacred Spirit Healers Market here in the lower San Diego area. It is a monthly pop-up healer’s market, currently at Soul Flow Studio in North Park although we plan to expand to other areas. We have different healers come to offer affordable mini sessions to the public. This a way to reach those who would not normally seek out these often life-changing modalities due to fear or misconception. Our mission is also to empower our fellow healers to grow themselves and their businesses through the experience; we know there are so many transformative healers that the world needs that right now. On a personal level, this project is exceptionally dear to me because it represents a truth held deeply within the core of my soul: we healers can heal this world together.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to this point has not been smooth but it has been worthwhile. I am grateful for my struggles and the lessons learned along the way. At nineteen, I suffered a knee injury which took me from the path of becoming a professional dancer. A long way to wellness was traveled and I learned to understand my body through that experience.

Life has been filled with unusual experiences and I have frequently made my own path. Hard lessons learned were in valuing myself and allowing people access to my life who are only for my highest good. My gift is that I recognize potential. However, without discernment that can also be a burden. Particularly, in relationships. I never had supportive partners up until my boyfriend now. He is an amazing, soulful man who sincerely encourages my visions and dreams. We are also unafraid to call each other out when the other one is not behaving to the standards that we have agreed to as a team. Yet, we do this with compassion. This is key. You both deserve each other’s loving truth.

My advice for other women is to never give up on your dreams no matter what you are going through. Life has a way of aligning with our highest good. Hold the hope and faith that it will. This takes repeat effort but it’s worth it! We all came to change the world in our own special ways.

I am a Reiki Master and intuitive healer. I specialize in the Japanese modality of Reiki incorporating crystal healing and sound healing into my practice. I am known for this and for establishing sacred space. I am proud of that and my ability to listen to my clients’ needs from a nonjudgmental place. Comfort to my clients, assisting, and aligning them with their own healing are my goals in each session.

Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I believe that there are many opportunities for women today. We must come together to support each other as a collective. We are powerful in our numbers. Although we have been held back until this point, I sense that this is changing. You can feel it in the energy around us, a wave building. What we, women have endured has conditioned us to be stronger, more ingenious, and more emotionally cognizant of each others’ struggles. We are the healers and the nurturers of this world. Together we will birth a new paradigm.
